There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Yellow Spyder Fire

Come on dude, bring the football back - this is a forum (doesn't forum mean :chat:?) - I think it's good we all talk about stuff. Your expertise on machines is INVALUABLE here along with other fellow gear heads. Some people are gonna panic, some will get p*ssed (like me but I'm holding out hope :2thumbs:) and some will continue to ask questions. It's a friggin melting pot in here. Not everyone thinks along the same lines - that is what makes this place so interesting:thumbup:

Sure there's alot of different opinions and speculation going on but I learn from everyone every day. If it's not one thing, it's another and it's the same way in life off the internet. There will be days where you can't or don't wanna swallow that pill and days it goes down so good, you don't even need water.

Smylinacha: You and I don't agree on some important issues, but in this post you have expressed my thoughts better than I could do it myself. Besides that, you get "points" for having a husband who rides a Harley. I have never met a Harley rider whom I didn't like. It drives my non-riding friends crazy when I say this. They accuse me of having selective amnesia. Now I tell them that I have never met a Spyder rider whom I didn't like.

Thank you. I just apologize if any of my frustrations with what I'm going through has offended others so basically I have decided to keep my mouth shut from now on, unless it's related to making fun of Roaddog or bathroom jokes so I'll be reading but I won't be replying much unless it's something funny, or unless HDX makes fun of me and I have to dish it back at him. :2thumbs:

That is truly a shame, in my opinion. Why stop posting? :dontknow: I thought that's what forums are all about.

If everybody stopped posting, and just read, then there would be absolutely nothing to read in the first place! :gaah:

I've always enjoyed reading your posts, and would miss your take on things. As you know, I don't own a Spyder yet, but all of the talk, (GOOD AND BAD!) is valuable. Don't be afraid to express your opinion, even if it may offend some people. After all, it's YOUR opinion, and adults should be able to figure that out on their own without getting offended.

And all this talk about how "this board could cause the demise of the Spyder...." is absolute nonsense. I think all of you are giving this board a little more power than it actually has. Sure, Lamont has a huge following here, but the success or failure of BRP and the Spyder does not rely on what happens to be said on one board.

As many have pointed out... The success or failure of the Spyder will depend entirely on the Spyder itself, and how BRP handles any problems that may arise.

I'm still looking forward to the day I can afford to buy my Spyder, regardless of all these problems that are being reported. Until then I'll keep enjoying my MP3 500. :ohyea:

OK, didn't mean I'm not gonna post at all (but I'm sure many would rather have me NOT post ) but I'm going to stay on the "lighter" side for a while. Look, my Spyder is in the shop. My Spyder is broken. It went in with a problem and it now sits there more broken than when it went in. I'm in a mood about it but I'm gonna give BRP the benefit of the doubt that it will be fixed. Not sure how many times I wanna give BRP the benefit of the doubt - I havent' decided that yet.

So I guess I mean I won't cuss on them anymore although I am very frustrated and concerned. So I would like to read the board, and stay on the lighter side of things for a while, until I know what is going on w/ my Spyder. Once I do, I will post about it but I gotta snap out of my mood with it. Because as you can see, they also call me Yellinacha in here now:2thumbs:

How was your corn hole festival? I loved that video you posted!

I fully understand Scotty's position - and I too get tired of the chronic complaining--- but it's those that have NOT even had problems getting all hot and bothered that drives me up the wall.

Perhaps they are very new to motorcycles, perhaps they tend to look for problems as a way of life. Perhaps the Spyder is their first bike and they think it's just like a car-- just needs gas and oil.

I deal with problems as they arise - no one ever benefited by excess worrying-- especially about things they cannot control - and have yet to happen.

Being aware and worrying are very different things.

I'm more old-school about bikes--- and my general take is "Don't ride it if you can't wrench it". These are not generally the ones complaining and bashing BRP.

Everyone seems to want answers NOW - when things just don't work that way. Bad news travels at the speed of light--- good news like a snail.

Maybe a specific folder for those with problems could be set up - that way the negativity that many show (which they should have the right to share) can be confined to a certain area.

Pretty nice out today--- so I'm going for a ride ---a worry-free one at that!

I can only speak for myself but I'm hoping people aren't taking my posts the wrong way.

I am NOT trying to talk anyone out of posting whatever they like including problems, issues and frustrations with their dealer, BRP or their Spyder. All of this is included in what this forum is all about.

Instead, I was hoping to communicate with owners that have decided to let these posts ruin their enjoyment of a perfectly functioning Spyder. Or letting a minor issue throw them into a panic.

What's happening, I think, is that when the average Spyder owner (and particularly someone considereing a Spyder) reads 20 negative, problem posts out of 30 total posts they assume by appearance that 2/3rds of us are having major issues with our ride.

This is just not true. Even those having issues seem to understand that problems are not nearly as wide spread as many assume.

We need the problem posts and follow-ups as it helps everyone. It's one reason I come here on a regular basis. I want the bad with the good.

I am just shooting for a proper perspective on the bad vs. good postings and I think this is the key.

You have every right to be "in a mood" about your Spyder. And you know what? You should let your feelings be made known. You SHOULD vent about things. Heck, that IS what these forums are all about. It gives people like you, and other owners, the opportunity to praise the product to high heaven when you are enjoying it, and also vent like hell when things go wrong. It's ALL good, sister!

LOL! Well, you have been one of the BIGGEST SUPPORTERS of the Spyder, and have made it clear that you absolutely LOVE the vehicle. This gives you a great deal of credibility when it comes to being upset over things that are going wrong with it. But, either way, please feel free to SHARE YOUR EMOTIONS no matter what they may be.

How was your corn hole festival? I loved that video you posted!

Thanks for asking! We had a GREAT time on Halloween. I left around 10pm or so, but the party kept on going until around 3 or 4am according to my brother! Here's some pics....

Here's BatGirl, my brothers neighbor...

I am concerened about the negativity on here of late too. I think it is important to remember that the forum is made up of people interested in the Spyder and though most of us that post own :spyder:s we are only a portion of the total sales of the :spyder:. We have no ideas of the numbers of actual :spyder:s having problems or not having problems. the actual number of people who are members of the forum and actually post is another indicator. Most people are not active that are members. So IMHO problems are overstated and the good about are rydes is understated.
Am I concerned about the current problems - yes but I am more concerned that our negativity is drivng potential Spyder Owners away. We say little of what is good with our rydes anymore.
I hate that any of us are having any problems with our :spyder:s. I would love to see all the problems solved as soon as possible. I also have faith in BRP to get to the bottom of all issues. The company has been around for a while and they have provided quality products. They have a quality product in the Spyder.

Give BRP a chance - stay loyal to our rydes. think positive.

I have had my issues too and have posted them here but I like to think that I have praised the spyder more than bashed it. It just seems that a lot of people are bashing and we are not praising the technology of our rydes.

When you bought the spyder you knew it was a new type product in an established market. Growng pain sare inevitable - we are the test sublects. Yes we want a safe product and we have one, are there some issues yes. But with the collective knowledge of the people on this forum let's help become the solution not more of a problem -- SORRY FOR THE RANT.

I don't know... I've been a member here for a couple years now, and I think it's safe to say that if you were to go over ALL of the threads and/or posts on this site, you would find that they contain 99% POSITIVE statements from people about their Spyders. Heck, people have been freakin orgasmic about the Spyder, and it shows throughout this website. I certainly do not agree that people have not been saying "good" things. Quite the opposite.

Pommer’s Law
Proposed by Rob Pommer on rationalwiki.com in 2007, this states:
“A person's mind can be changed by reading information on the internet. The nature of this change will be from having no opinion to having a wrong opinion.” :dontknow:

There are some great discussion points in this thread.

It would be a crying shame to see anyone leave the forum over what has been happening here lately.

BajaRon made some very good points about new riders and their possible expectations. When I bought my first motorcycle at 16, I knew there was some inherent danger to riding it. I also found out about it first hand when I totalled it. Here in SC, you don't even need a motorcycle endorsement in order to operate the Spyder. This is a very new world for many people, but they should understand the risks involved with not being in a cage and make informed decisions as to what they are going to do. Fear for the sake of fear doesn't do justice for anyone.

You are braver than I am. I decided to leave that one alone as I could not figure out a good way to approach the subject!

And if someone suggests I approach it from the rear... I'M LEAVING! :roflblack:

If BRP does discontinue the Spyder it won't totally be because of possible lawsuits arising out of Spyder malfunctions or lack of Spyder sales due to the problems some have experienced. It will be more of a direct result of the economy. Their outboard motor division is really hurting. Sales of Evinrude motors are way down. The Sea-doo line of PWC, while still ahead of Yamaha in sales, has fallen over 33% from a year ago....and 2008 was a bust year. All the new new models involved a lot of R&D, and it will be difficult to recoupe the costs. A lot of very prominent manufacturers have gone by the way side and many more will probably follow suit before this recession is over.

Thanks Derwin!:doorag:

I still support the Spyder and I've stated before that it is the best concept out there for trikes as far as I am concerned. I think it's great there's good and bad in here but that's only what I "think". What I'm seeing says another story - nobody likes the negative or seeing any problems so I'm just gonna zip that part of it from here on in. I'll keep all that off the forum.

Kim, I for one would like to hear everything that you have to say. You are right, there is no enjoyment in hearing the bad times and the negative experiences you are going through. And when you get mad . . . well, you are like a machine gun set to auto-fire going off in the local Library, with a couple of hand-grenades thrown in for punctuation. Besides being an awesome event, it is frustrating that most of us can just watch and cannot really help you remedy the situation.
But that is you. So are the jokes and hilarious stories you share ( I still smile about the frogs on the camping trip, or your comment on a "cute little skull" and Roaddog's gay little trailer ). And nobody else in the history of the whole world has ever captured a picture of HDXbones on a BMW.

Surely, there has to be a Nobel Prize for that.

You are supportive, you get angry, you apologize, you say what you think - and then - what you really thought, you get excited and you get depressed and frustrated, though my favorite is when you make ice cream come out of your nose.

You are the whole thing, a real slice of life - don't censor yourself. There is no value or solution in that. And, please, don't go over to the Light-side - the world and the Spyder are not all Sunshine & Lollipops.

And when you do run low on hope and faith, there are many here who will be glad to share theirs with you. At the very least, I would let you bum a cig.

And the same applies to Mr. K, who started this thread.

C'mon, fella's. You never heard of Cornhole? It's only the MOST FUN a guy can have with a bag of corn and a hole!

Let me educate you....

And for those that don't know, here's Cornhole: The Movie....

I thought this thread needed a bit of levity to lighten the mood! :D

Ok, I can see I am ignorant.

I'm from California, Corn Hole means something else out there.

I'm sure they practice Cornhole in California also. This game is spreading all over the country. Heck, there's even an official Cornhole Tour you can join....just like golf!

The other definition of that term is quickly changing, though. At least for those that are aware of this "sport".

Soon you will not be ashamed to say... "I am a champion Cornholer!"
