XM Sirius Radio (Where to mount it)

I just sold my 06 GL1800 in which I had mounted my Sirius XM in the right glove box. I removed all the hardware from it before I sold it and now would like to mount it to the RTS/
SE5. I just haven't decided where to mount it so that I can remove it when I want to.

I,d love to have sirius in the Spyder because thats All I listen to when on the computer(Dish Network) .
Is the reception clear -No fading in and out? Is it expensive per month?

I also love Sirius but went the simple route and now use the phone app for my car, office, home and Spyder. Stand-alone subscription is $12 a month. Plus I also use my phone as a gps and of course phone.

Thats were the factory mount puts it, so I tried it.....works about 80% as long as you don't throw any gear on top of it. Thinking of moving it outside, have a couple of plans...i'll keep you posted.

I made the mistake of having mine mounted inside the front trunck (Zumo550 outside antenna) and the reception is awfull.... I will try outside soon!

Are there any of these Sirius/XM receivers that are equipped with plugs for external antennas? I keep looking at the spot where the CB antenna would mount; that would work nicely... :thumbup:

I have an XM antenna mounted inside my RV on the top of my cabinet under the fiberglass roof cap. It works 99 percent if the time. The only time it doesn't work is when a moutain in on the south side of the coach. I would assume it would work quite well in the back trunk until the top of the passenger seat gets in the way or the head and shoulders of your rider.

The magnetic back of the antenea sticks to any of the inside bolts in thr rear trunk.

I dont generally change the XM channel. But If I need to I pull over. Even if it were mounted near the handle bars, I could really change the channel anyway without taking my eyes off the road.

Yes they make an outside antenna, but it is real big, they use them on tractor trailers, would not look right on the :f_spider:. Better to mount the small one outside some where....

I found one online that is designed for use on motorcycles... now all I need is a receiver with an input jack! Any suggestions for that one?

Just got my xm working but using auto antenna, not the best but it does work.

That cable is part number "710001406 MP3 audio plug", which can be ordered from your dealer or found on ebay. You will be able to control the volume on the Sirius receiver but thats all with this type of hookup.
