• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

X-Mas Sopping on Spyder

On the way home from X-Mas shopping, with stuff filling my frunk, I collided with a swarm of bugs. Bug juice on my helmet--ALOT! Bug juice on my windshield--some. Bug juice on my gloves!

But out what really gets me is how, at 75 MPH, does bug juice get on the backside of the windshield! How come is that?

Nice day to ride though. BUT I GONNA TAKE A CAN OF RAID WITH ME NEXT TIME. THAT'LL FIX 'EM. I'LL SPRAY 'EM AS I GO DOWN THE FREEWAY!!! :ohyea::ohyea:

The amount of wind that comes up the backside of the windshield would amaze you. It needs to be that way to limit wind buffeting and turbulence, but it can be substantial. Turbulence and backdraft can add to it. In a rain, the back of my windshield is often wetter than the front (and dirtier). I have never cleaned my windshield without finding several bug splats on the back...even on other bikes. The old Vetter on my BMW Slash 5 being the possible exception. That had a lot of still air in the back.

Bombs..!!

a bug bomb launcher to clear you a path..just be glad they are not a swarm of bees crossing over to pollinate fields on the other side of the freeway. Don't ask..!!

Speaking about turbulence and backdraft behind the windshield, I once found myself riding through rain (all of a sudden) and was amazed when I noticed a few droplets suspended in mid-air on a back side of my windshield. I couldn't believe my eyes.

Killing bugs with my spyder is effective-- they all die. But methinks a 20 gallon tank of insecticide mounted on the front of the spyder with 140 PSI sprayer would be better.

Di you ever notice water droplets moving from bottom, to top on your visor?
That's the backdraft and turbulence playing with you! :D

You've got a high pressure area on the front of the windshield via the impacting air and a low pressure area behind the windscreen. A windshield vent will alleviate some of the pressure differential and lessen the amount of rain, bugs, etc on the inside of the windscreen. I cut a NACA shaped inlet on my BRP sport windscreen and it made a big diff.
