• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Wrong way!

My wife and I just returned from our yearly ryde to Spokane for the Combat Vet. Riders annual ryde. We had a great time and got to see our good friends from up there. But sometimes it is best to let the wife lead. I took a wrong turn that turned into a 120 mile out of the way journey on the way there. The bad part is that after the last fillup in Las vegas to the next gas station on the wrong turn, it is 175 miles. After 135 miles, the little light comes on and lets you know you are low on fuel. As I had let my wife run out of gas on her Honda, she kinda started to get worried. We have scalas so she asked where were we going to get gas. I like a dumba**, I said at the next gas station. Needless to say she wasnt amused. Her next question was, and that would be? I said Um up the road. Again she wasnt amused. At 155 miles she asked again, where are going to get gas? She said she thought she may be running out. As she rydes an SM and I an SE, I told her I would run out before she does, as she gets better milage than I do. I dont think that pasified her as she then said you didnt answer my question. So I told her the next station was over that next hill and around the corner. Then I turned my scala off. Anyway, we made it to the gas station. Mine took 5.9 and hers took 5.6. She didnt speak to me as we filled up. I tried to explain that the radio must have shut down so I couldnt hear her anymore. All she did was glare. The glare knife is very sharp so I shutup. As we got back on our :spyder2:, she said follow me and dont talk. So i was quiet until she got over her mad. She led to the next station which was 60 miles down the road. We filled up and she said see how easy it is to find a gas station. All in all, not a bad trip. Just dont take a wrong turn. Ryde safe.

60 miles

Wow it only took 60 miles for her to get her mad ??? Thats only about an hour give or take...my wife sometimes takes days or longer....LOL

At least you found gas before running out , running out would probably have made the mad last longer. Wrong turns aren't always bad , change of scenery is nice.

The gas light on in the middle of nowhere syndrome is a scarry one for sure. I have rode 180 miles without putting in gas, but it was also about 5.9. On those kind of roads, I have learned to fill up at every gas station I see--just to be safe.

LOW ON GAS

I have rigged up a 2 quart leak/fume proof container in the frunk. Not a lot but gives me at least 15 to 17 miles of peace of mind. Mike

Holey Moley...

Hubby and I have never had an intercom system. We use hand signals. Finger on top of head for need gas, point to leg for need a butt break, etc. There are "issues" once in a while and Hubby can see and hear loud and clear my state of mind. Good thing he doesn't hear the full conversation.

The good thing about ryding different rides is we are both apart, enjoying the wind and scenery, its all forgotten before the next stop.

If I had to look at the back of his noggin for any period of time after an "issue"...

Something about wrath and a woman scorned...:shocked::shocked:

You know, sometimes I'm really glad

Its just me & Teddy  Never have to worry about these issues :roflblack: thanks for the "mad" reminder:roflblack:

:agree:no intercoms for us either. People have told me that I have a signal I use when Joe is making me mad but I just don't know what they are referring to.

Sandrunr1 I look forward to meeting you and your wife when we move to Henderson next month. We will have to get together for a ride.

Oh, Ann! I do remember that hand signal down in Maggie Valley - or should I say on the way there! As for the intercom...Butch just claims that the battery is dead when he wants to ignore me and starts pushing buttons to screw it up!!!

I guess we are in the minority. One of the main reasons I ended up with my RT is that after Nancy got her Spyder and we rode separately, we missed riding together and being able to talk on the intercom. We rigged up bike-to-bike, but never had good success with it. Nancy doesn't always talk much, though, and she never gets in my case. It also might surprise you to know that I actually shut up enough that we can listen to the music without interruption. Anyway, we love the intercom, and wouldn't have another touring bike without it. :D

We would love to meet you. We ryde occasionally to the Dam and into Arizona and to Mt. Charleston for lunch. Also go to Mt. Springs for tacos and the music when they have it.

We have always road 2up until we got the spyder a 2010 RT SE5. Last year we went to SITS for are first big ride on the :spyder2:. When we got back to FL CJ [Carol] was wondering how hard it was to handle the :spyder2: so i got it out and let her drive it around for a while in the yard. Well to make a long story short it cost us another 18k to get her own spyder 2011 RS SE5.Now she is so excited about going to Cuba,Mo for the first time on her own spyder.I must say I am very proud of her in learning how to ride and doing a fabulous job of it. We did get the G4 head set, it's good up to a mile apart, Were planing on being in Cuba in April 2012 for spyderfest. She wants to go the back roads so were going to Cuba via Oklahoma from Florida. Hope to meet up with you and hundreds of other :spyder2: owners in Cuba.
