• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Got a reality check about an hour ago; a car about 10 carlengths in front of me threw a stone about the size of a golfball up, and it hit my faceshield hard enough to snap my head back and my ears ring. Seems I need to replace the shield, it has a scar about the size of a quarter right in front of the bridge of my nose. Trying not to think of where I'd be without the brain bucket.

Good news..!!

they do serve their purpose. Really glad you were wearing it with the shield down. Wish more folks would it would help them...:yikes:

I can't count the number of times my helmet/shield has prevented stones/bugs/bird poop....whatever from smashing into my face. Nothing as dramatic as you experienced though. Glad you're ok and your gear did it's job !

Back many year's ago, when I was serving my college sentence in Joisey; a girl on a bicycle was killed by a rock thrown from the treads of a 4x4...
They caught the owner, and prosecuted him!

Glad your OK, Face-shields save faces..nojoke

A while ago i was riding past a golf course,
And was hit with golf-ball the size of a hailstone...:)

What was the driver charged with since the stone was thrown by the tire?

I wondered that myself...

Unless the owner violated certain laws regarding tire size, height of vehicle off the ground, mud-flap requirements, or something similar... I would think it would merely have been ruled an accident. An extremely unfortunate accident, none the less.

I intercepted a stone last year just above the shield, over my eye. It wasn't anywhere near as large as the one you describe though, and the impact from mine was just loud, not violent :yikes: like yours! Glad to hear you're OK!

learned my lesson

Was out on Tuesday with some friends, rode over two hours with my full helmet down stopped to update directions as we were nearing our destination (gerbings heated gear factory) raised my face shield prior to stopping and wouldn"t you know a hornet hit me right next to my eye and stung the S+*t out of me then continued to gerbings only to have them sting me in my rear (where the wallet sits).;)
