• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Would you like to plan a trip to Alaska?

Alaska trip 2008

I went in August/September and it was rainy, so may be earlier in June/July to get better weather. You will probably hit stretches of road construction, but on 3 wheels no problem. I rode up thru Glacier NP, Banff, Jasper, Whitehorse, Dawson City on the Top of the World Highway. I was camping most of the time. I took the ferry from Haines to Prince Rupert on the return, which was enjoyable. The map from The Milepost gives several different routes.

Best weather for Alaska travel by bike is June & July with August being third best. In September, fall begins to kick in early and it can be cool, cloudy, and rainy. Expect temps in the 50's and lower. It usually snows in October--especially after the 15th. I ride until snow gets on the roads here--but that is usually 3rd week in October.
