There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Wolo air horn for 2020 RT-L

New forum member, and new Spyder owner. Has anyone replaced the rather lame stock horn with a Wolo or other air horn ?
I haven't yet searched under the plastic to find the stock horn, but I was wondering about putting the air horn out front in one of the air intakes for the rads.
I don't know what support may be under there, or if it's possible, but any feedback would be appreciated. THX.

There's a thread on this forum on how to do the wolo. Try the search in upper right.
The horn is reached from underneath under plastic plate on the right side (sitting in saddle), easy access.

Thanks guys, looks like replacing the stock horn in its place would be a lot easier than trying to hang the Wolo out front.

OK folks, I finally got the Wolo mounted out front, where I wanted it. Still too cold in my garage to do the wiring, but I plan on 12 ga. wire from battery to relay, relay to horn, and all grounds. I'm going to tap the existing horn Positive wire and use that to trigger the relay for the Wolo. Leave the stock horn where it is, the more sound the better, right?

12 ga wire is way overkill for any 12v accessory! 12 ga can carry 20 A @ 120 V (2400 Watts). Even heated gear uses smaller (16?) Your horn wire doesn't need to be larger than 18 IMHO.

I can't say I agree with 18 gauge wire. I use 12 gauge and 14 gauge wire normally for my aftermarket add-ons. I'd never
go as small as 18 gauge. But that's just me. From what I've read 10-15 amp draw normally recommends at least 14 gauge
wire. I didn't see anything about wire as small as 18 gauge.

I put on the Wolo Big Bad Max horn. It wasn't easy to install, and included making my own bracket and cutting out the can am one, but It's installed, and it is like a big rig truck horn!

O.K., so first - I didn't realize that the stock horn is wired live all the time, even with the key OFF. So now I can't figure out how to run BOTH horns at the same time. So I just disconnected and extended the stock horn wires through a small loom out into the frunk, and hooked them up to the trigger terminals on the horn relay on the floor of the frunk. Air horn works great.

Wire gage is a function of Amperage, not Voltage. What is the amperage draw if a Wolo? Use a stranded wire due to its better vibration resistance. I would recommend a minimum of 16 Ga copper stranded.

A lot of the wiring for lighting on the Spyder is 18 gauge, and many LED add-ons are 22 gauge.

Those larger gauges are for heavy loads off the battery. It all depends on the amperage draw of the load. AND, we are talking about 12vdc systems, not house wiring.

(NOTE: I tried to post a 12vdc chassis wire gauge chart here but once again the system is preventing me from posting jpegs)

I just bought the dual horns that slingmods is offering. I'll be installing them this weekend. I put them on the wife's Ryker and boy are they loud.

Hi Pete, I also had some trouble posting the water pump pix here. I found that when I lowered the resolution of the pix --- it worked.

My Wolo outlets are pointed down, just ahead of that 'wing' that comes down, and the rest of the horn is wedged behind that.
