• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Wiring the Dock connection into the dash...

So I am looking for options to run the Dock connector into the Dash/glovebox so I can put my phone in there and wont need a blue tooth dongle. If I can reach it at the stop lights easily then I think it will suit my needs.

Anyone done it before?

I would look for another alternative than the glove box. It gets too hot in there and you really don't want wire it.

Started not done.

My phone goes in a RAM mount on the handle bars. My plan is to build a cable that goes from the plug in the trunk to the handle bars. I have all the parts but I have not gotten to it yet. I have not figured out the two lines for usb +5V and 0V power lines so I can charge my non icrap device at the same time.

Once it gets colder, I am moving a few wires around (like the SENA doggle to the back and the dock cable to the front) as well as adding a few lights and more USB ports with an additional fusebox. Jthorton makes a nice dash support system where you can add more RAM Mount clips.

Here is how I mount my phone. I can see who is calling and also use it as a GPS. I like it up high so I don't have to take my eyes very far off the road. The phone stays charged all the time. Of course I put it in the trunk when it rains...

I keep it in the dash all the time, but it does get hot. The Xmount on the center or the dash would also work. I need to be able to get to the phone at the stop lights, but want it integrated into the spyder without the Dongle.

Then I can control it with the Yoke controls, and switch between listening through the bike, or the Sena. Only thing I dont get skipping the dongle is speed sensitive volume through helmet, but thats okay. The phone allows me to chose the Sena or the Spyder from the speaker out put, and awutomatically switches to the bluetooth helmet when the phone rings.

how is the xmount attached to the dash?

Are you just using the 12v connector for charging?

It uses the two screws that hold the dash on with a Ram Mount X Grip. The plug is a Blue Sea dual USB plug. The USB is powered from the gauge light circuit.

I saw a variation of this mount at the Owners Event in Maggie Valley and was very impressed with the ingenuity of the guy that made it from common hardware parts.
