Wiring accessory fusebox

I bought a PC-8 fuse panel and today - while it rains- I took off the tupperware and have been getting my first look under the skin at what I got- so far so good.
Here's my question- Where to draw switched power from? I see the Spyder fusebox in the trunk has an open spot for a 3a fuse and it is labeled "accessories". I popped the fuse box out and it looks like the purple wire will be switched if I put a fuse in place...is that right?
3a should be fine to power my accessory relay so can I tap off the purple wire and be done with it?

thanks in advance for any help.

If you are using a relay, use the trigger pole and connect to the rear light wire as it is switched.
I would hope that you use an in-line fuse link to te relay for power.

I find it best to stay away from any and all accessories that needs to be wired to the truck fuse box regardless .. That way I can stay away from the cambus circuit. At least that is my thought.

I like others used the purple wire for the accessory 3A fuse to power the relay. Of course I purchased the diode to prevent any canbus problem.

I got the diode in the wire as well. I'm still trying to find the best spot as the supplied lead is too short to reach the purple wire and I haven't got a wire diagram to figure the tail light wiring where I see Bk, W, and Orange wires. My guess is the white is running light, orange is brakes?

The switched accessory circuit feeds a violet wire with a yellow stripe. If you do not have the optional 12V outlet installed in the trunk, the wiring harness is tucked (and tied?) up under the upper frame extension on the left front of the Spyder. Easier to find with the trunk off, but accessible without going that far. The circuit is limited to 3 amps, so I would only use it to trigger the relay for the auxiliary fusebox. No diode needed as the accessory circuit is not monitored by the CANBUS, like the taillight circuit is.

I have my PC-8 under the dash on the left hand side. So, I had no problem. Having a diode in cannot hurt; when I ordered the PC-8 I wasn't sure what I would use to activate it.

I think we are talking about the same wire and I found it easy to use the posilock to tap in by taking the front side panel off to get to the wire in the back of the fuse/relay box near the trunk. You called it violet and I called it purple; it is violet.

With a yellow stripe. There are other violet wires.

I wouldn't use the tail light for power. You can use the tag light circuit since it isn't monitored.:f_spider:

Well its done, wired, double checked and reassembled, but I was too busy to road test it until tomorrow. I lost one panel screw and busted a plastic windshield screw so I have to stop by the dealer and see if they got'em.
Lucky for me I drive right by the dealer on the way back and forth to work.

It might be in the 20s tomorrow morning and Ilook forward to trying out my Gerbings heated jacket- the main reason I added the fusebox in the first place.

Thanks for all of your help. It was fun to get a look at the vehicle with most of the panels off. I'm glad I'm not a mechanic any more- my old eyes can't see in the dark places anymore and my fingers aren't so nimble as they used to be so things take longer now. Still, it's fun to dabble and I can see myself doing a lot of the routine maintenance as I go along.
