I'm looking for a wire stripping tool that can strip the insulation in the middle of a length of wire, say 20-22 gauge, instead of at the ends of the wire. Does anyone know if such a tool exists and, if so, can point me to it?
Yes, I have one of these for many years. Does just what you are asking.

This is a wire stripper but will not remove the insulation from the middle of a wire allowing insulation to remain
on both ends. The best way is to use a razor knife. this how I have been doing it for 30 years
:agree: But only 15yrs or so:roflblack::thumbup: but well practiced. Make sure power is OFF!nojokeSolid wire easier by far. & if have enough slack in wire a simple ,once around through insulaton then can seperate with out removing any material. If simple splice going to soldier, heat & clean both wires with flux. Heat shrink is better long term seal when complete, but good electrical tape works for most funny shape splices. Lots of ways to do right all a matter of personal preference & time to invest. This is a wire stripper but will not remove the insulation from the middle of a wire allowing insulation to remain

Strip the insulation in the middle of a length of wire? Works great to strip the end, but the middle?
How many times do I have to repeat myself. YES
I have used it to do precisely this for MANY years. Strip insulation in the middle of a run of wire without cutting it so I can solder on a new branch connection.
I have been an electrican for 35 years and I have owned and used that stripper before.
I would have to see a video using it to remove insulation from the middle of a wire.
Now it is possible to use it to slide the insulation a bit from a short wire, but not if there
there is a connection at both ends.
Whatever. I really don't care if you believe me or not and I am not shooting a video to PROVE something I have been doing for many years. Insinuating that I am lying is a pretty nasty thing to do on an open forum just because YOU have not done something I have for many years. Nice that you have practiced electrical work for years, perhaps its never too late to learn something new. I was taught how to do this by a marine electrician as it prevents loss of mechanical strength of the main wire at the joint.
