There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Winter Riding

In Iowa this time of the year we don’t always get to ride. I have not missed very many days of not riding. There were a few days the wind was just too strong to enjoy riding. I have a heated liner and gloves. With the heated grips on the Spyder I have not used the gloves much. The heated grips on the Goldwing’s did not work as well as these do. Every Saturday morning I ride into Omaha, Ne. BMW motorcycle dealer and meet several guys. It is about 55 miles one way. The last three weeks I have been the only one on a cycle. The rest all live in the Omaha area. In the mornings when I leave it is in the mid 20’s which is pretty cold. With my heated gear I don’t get that cold. Today (Nov 20[SUP]th[/SUP]) I rode about 90 miles and it was 50 degrees. I hope to ride all winter but will stop if the roads get wet which I am sure they will. Our forecast is for a mild winter. They say very little snow but some cold weather. If it stays dry I will just get more heated gear. My motorcycles have never been in storage. I have a three stall garage and my Spyder is always ready to go. I do have a cover for it if the weather gets to bad I will cover it but it can always be removed.

Fingers crossed

Hope your winter will be mild. Seems you are well equiped to handle cold weather ryding and are comfortable doing so. Do agree the snow ice and salted and sanded roads would end it temporary...

The RT has really good heated grips and you get good protection from the mirrors. Not so on the F3T, they don't come standard with heated grips and your hands are not at all protected by the mirrors or fairing. I bought a pair of heated gloves while we were at the International Motorcycle Show this weekend and I think I'll get a lot of use out of them. On the ride home it was a little chilly and I was thinking that I should have gotten heated socks too.

:agree: I ride here in Ohio until the local safetycrats put salt on the roads. That stuff is just plain nasty and cleaning it off my bikes is a lot of work.

Now that I sold the RT ( Great Winter Ride) I have Warm and Safe Heated glove Liners from Ron Wired to the rear seat plug of my F3 and Marino Wool Socks and a Snow Bib and Good Jacket with a BelaClava under the helmet and a Nice ride Once every 7-10 Days feels Great Until the Salt gets Sloppy?

i too have no intention of storing the rt for the winter, I have been riding to work most days unless it starts out raining in the morning. 30 degrees and rain just suck. I feel like I'm missing a therapy session when I don't get to ride. Chris

Ann, what gloves did you buy? Where do they plug in on the F3?

I do the same as Bob. I ride mine till they spread salt. I plug in the Firstgear clothing and ride. Have a Great Turkey Day! Ride Safe & Long!

Black ice and snow are when I put the bikes away for the season. They have been sleeping for about a month now.

October 11th this year. One of the earliest.

Hi there. Have you heard about NISR (Nebraska Iowa Spyder Ryders)??? Look us up on Facebook or our Spyderfever website. A great group of Spyder owners.

We ride all year here in the "old Pueblo" but mornings and higher elevations do get down close to freezing. I have a ultimate (BRP) heated seat, grips and passenger grips. Standard on the RTL. The RT's do provide much better wind protection than other models if year around riding is desired.

When below 55* I use "Gerbing" heated jacket liner, pant's liner and gloves sometimes. Gerbing was the original heated motorcycle gear developer and manufacturer. Double controller controls heat separately.

Heated Socks

Anybody know of Good Heated Socks For Spyder Riding IN COLD weather. I have a pair that use a 'D' Cell but they do not DO the Job. :helpsmilie::helpsmilie:

Parked now in Wisconsin

I just parked my RS-S for the season here in Wisconsin (Sad day!).

I like others ride until they throw that spectacular vehicle dissolving salt!

I must say the RS-S is VERY COLD to ride when the temps start to fall. I put my snowmobile gear on including my BRP BV2S helmet which I suppose is a big no, no because of the double shielded lens on it, but it does not fog up even without a heated shield! Like anything if you dress for the weather its not really a big deal.

I've been considering changing rides to the RT or possibly even just buying another Spyder, as I do love the RS-S. The wife would probably scream :lecturef_smilie: as I usually can't have one of anything, but hey the RT, & RS-S are completely different rides so there is my excuse!

I just want to say I'm really impressed with those who keep riding in that really cold weather. Me, I try to chase the sun.

RE: Chasing the sun. Here it is a bit different. Coming up on winter solstice--shortest day of the year. About 5 hours of daylight. Here--sunrise around 10:00 AM and sunset at 3:30 PM.

Sun does not rise and set in the usual manner. After sunrise, the sun gets to about 10:00 level in the sky. It just tracks across the horizon at that level from east to west--then goes down. Many mountains are much higher than 10:00 level. When the sun goes behind a mountain range--no sun in the sky to be seen--just the light. Depending on where you live in proximity to mountains--some places lose the sight of the sun between Sept and March because the mountain ranges are so high. You then have to get away from those valleys to see the sun. We almost got sucked into one of those dark valleys when we bought our first home here. Fortunately the realtor clued us in.
