WINDSHIELDS & WIND DEFLECTORS

Hi everyone
maybe I can get some information from you here on the forum regarding windshields and
wind deflectors... I have a 2008 GS and tonight I logged about 100 miles in 40 to 50 degree
weather.... not cold by east coast standards but damn cold for a California guy.
I am looking for suggestions on the tallest widest shield for the above trike and I have seen
wind deflectors to direct the wind off your legs (knee) area can you save me time shopping
and tell me where to get the above ???? I called ClearView but they are in R & D on it now and
will not be out until summer what about a Laminar Lip on the touring shield I already have????

I tried a Laminar Lip on my RS touring screen and it did not help much at all. Size is not the be all and end all. Its how the airflow is controlled. I would strongly recomend that you look at the Madstad adjustable screen. http://www.madstad.com It has a huge range of adjustment and by handling the airflow correctly gives better results than many larger screens IMHO.

Baker air wings

Baker air wings will let close the air on your legs or open and you can get lots of air in hot weather. We love them and now we have them on both or our :spyder2:

I was also getting ready to suggest the BRP deflectors... Several friends use them and have been pretty happy.
And Cal Sci's windshields seem to be getting some pretty good reviews as well; although I must admit to watching the RT reviews closer than the ones for the GS/RS models...

There is a lot more to keeping the wind off you than windshield height. The rider's torso length, the distance to the windshield, the windshield angle, and the vehicle speed all enter into the equation. I highly recommend a Madstad adjustable bracket, no matter which windshield you choose.

Air Flow

Hi everyone
Thanks for the input... I also tried the Laminar Lip on my ST1100 and did not feel it did much. I did look at the BRP air deflectors they look good, I did also have the Baker air wings
on my GoldWing and liked them they work well and I do like the ability to adjust them in and out. I have not seen the adjustable wind shield but you can bet that is next..
The air flow and noise was not as bad when I had the stock handle bars but since installing
the Heli Bar riser and changing my seating position the wind now is bothersome.
I had the same thing with my ST when I put Heli Bars on it then installed the police windshield
made by Clearview and all was great... still is.

I have the 25" shield with wind deflectors from BRP....love them

Was out in 45°F weather today. The wind deflectors that come with the screen do an excellent job of keeping the legs out of the cold air.
On my first ride with the 25" screen installed I was not happy, but have come to appreciate it now after maybe a dozen outings. Keeps the wind off my hands & at 5'8" with a long torso I can have my Nolan visor up with complete comfort.

Glad I have it now temps have dipped. I also have the Givi screen & will put that back on next summer.

I have an '08 GS.
