• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Windshield.

Madstad

I put the Madstad on mine. I am 5' 10" and went with the short one in the lightest grey. Had it about a month and it is working great.

Which BR windshield did you buy? How tall are you? How far above the instrument cluster does the windshield extend to?

I am 5'4". There is only one Blue Ridge for the F3. I added the x-creen Tour and that gives you another 1 or 6 inches depending on how you adjust it.

Thank you so much for the pic and info. Is this your bike with the Blue Ridge shield?

Yes, that's the Blue Ridge shield and the x-creen tour. I originally got the x-creen tour with the clamp-on option (costs extra) and after awhile decided I'd most likely never remove the x-creen and thought the add-on clamp looked bad compared to my husband's F3 with the "permanent install" blue ridge with x-creen tour option. So I took the plunge and drilled the holes in the blue ridge and attached the x-creen permanently. "permanent" can still be removed if you really hate it. The holes in the windshield are small and not that big a deal (my opinion).

I just added the X-creen yesterday. I was going to get the clamp-on option, but after looking at some reviews I decided to just drill the windshield. It looks neater that way.
Rode about 100 miles today testing different positions. I figured out that you must make minor adjustments to get the sweet spot!

Oh OK. The pic you posted is with the clamp on, right!?! How much do you have invested total in your windshield? Would you have gone with a different one hindsight!?!

Are you wishing you had gone with a different windshield since having to get more height with the x-creen?

No, the picture I posted was after I drilled the holes an installed it "permanently" I tried to attach a different picture that is closer up but it failed the 3 times I tried, so I gave up.

I don't like windshields, so I like the lower profile, and wouldn't change a thing.

You need to shop around for both. Your Spyder dealer should give you the best deal on the BlueRidge you should get 10% to 20% off at the dealer you purchased from which should cover the tax you would pay. I paid 325.00 installed for the BR and then paid 129.00 for the x-creen with free shipping.

When we purchased our BR, there were not a lot of options then, but now there is. So look around before you decided. I am happy with my setup.

I like my Madstad windshield. They will let you return for a different size which is what I did. I needed to go wider so I sent mine back. However, if you go wider you can't return. I got the bronze and it is awesome! Good luck.
It's been almost a year, so just checking in.

Are you still liking your Madstad windshield selection?

Any thoughts, observations, or regrets?

I am 5'8" and I bought a Blue Ridge windshield. BIG MISTAKE!! Lots of helmet buffering!!

Whatever type of windshield you get, if possible test one before buying or make sure the company has a return policy.
Did you ever decide to go with a different windshield or are you still enduring the BR shield?

I went first with the MADSTAD but returned it cause it was too small. I then added the f4 and love it. Everything depends on the weather you ride in. Smaller shields for warmer weather, larger shields for colder weather. My thoughts

I'm 5'11" with a 32" inseem but I sit on an Airhawk MC cushion. My f4 is a 28" and I added 10" Laminar Lips to completely remove the wind from my hands. I look over my shield and only catch wind at the very top of my helmet. I HIGHLY recommend the F4 for any F3s. My thoughts.
