• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. :dontknow: Which windshield would you go with and why? I am looking at the Cal-Sci and Rifle. Being new to this it is difficult for me to decide. All I know for sure is that I am ditching the stock windshield. 275 miles of head bobbing sor far....

I am 6'5" and have the XL cal-sci. I just put it on and we get snow in Ohio but the few miles on the highway I did get were tremendously better than stock:thumbup:

We are all different sizes so what suits one of us may not suit others. That's why I went for CHAD as it is adjustable 3" in height and 50 degree in rake.

Comments from other Australian CHAD users.

"Hi Martin, well, opened the box and there it was the biggest spyder windscreen I have ever seen, a Mantaray, but wait where is the tail. One must be optimistic, so I fitted it, didn't like the look much, but back to optimism. I took it for test ride, several adjustments. I ended up about 25% tilt and about 2" lift and boy did it work great. A day and a half has passed and already I am getting used to the look. I think when riders go past first impressions and test they will be very very impressed. I believe I have bought the best screen on the market to date. I have had the BRP sports, the BRP tourer screen and the Calsci screen which was quite good, and now the Mantaray C.H.A.D, which is the best, thanks Martin, Alan from Whitsunday."

Later follow up from Alan- "....have checked your fuel consumption since I fitted my C.H.A.D screen. On a full tank I fitted said screen and found on local riding my fuel consumption gave me just over 2 kilometers per litre more. ..... I am going away next weekend towing my Elite Camper Trailer on highway speeds so I will check the fuel consumption. If I was right what a promotion for a great screen. Well the screen works really well and I now like the look of it and have had some good comments"

From Erik at Ormeau - "Just back from a 2 day ride to Noosa …. And the screen ???? it’s fantastic ! …. The bugs use to hit me in between my eyes, now they are going just above my helmet, and this is with the screen at the furthest back and the lowest setting ….. so it’s great!. Thanks for your advice and help. Cheers Erik. "

i like the f1 slider. they come in 2 sizes and if you have not seen one, it has a main stationary black shield at about 22" and a "slider" that goes up and down on a set of tracks. i ryde with slider down most of times only pulls it up on freeway. i think its a good compromise between a full touring fairing and a sport windshield. when i first got it i did not like the look that much but i warmed up to it and i think it looks better than anything out there.

i had a problem with sliding mechanism so i called f1 and marcel the owner is gonna send me a replacement and he said dont bother sending the old one back it will cost too much ship it back and also i will have a spare slider!!! you can not ask for more than that from a online vendor:2thumbs:

f1windshields.com is their website for spyder

F1 Slider

Marcel, the owner, is an honest man, and the F1 Slider is excellent---the slide-up portion of the windshield comes up to a point beyond my sight level, but you can adjust as you like for different weather conditions----I don't think there is anything out there that can perform or look better that the "Tinted F1 Slider" from Marcel.....you can find his number by going to Google-----

pics of evolution III windshield

Hello BigT,
If you look under the catagory, "My Spyder Mod." I have placed 5 pics of the F1 Evolution III slider. I like it alot. Jerry

F1 is having a superbowl sale on their EVO III windshields from now til February 1st. $89 for the 26" EVO III and $30 more for the 30" EVO III. Note, these are not the EVO III slider windshield, just the standard one. Thats a pretty good price on a decent windshield for anyone who's interested.

I have the CHAD coming in this week... have to start puttin extras on bike B 4 I ship it to FLORIDA....

I believe I will go with the EVO III or EVO III slider. Anyone have the price on slider? Tried several times to call Marcel, no luck getting him. I will try again today. Thanks for all of your input you guys are GREAT! :2thumbs:

Honest man!!

Marcel F1 .....I beg to differ, honest he is not :cus: never will I forget the fiasco he put me thru. I personally think his windshield sucks. I have the slider and its sitting in my garage gathering dust. He is as good as until you get a screwed up windshield and he drags you along till you get tired of complaining.

I prefer the CHAD.

Has anyone tried the EVO III shorty. I don't really like the tall ones and am waiting to see what the new BRP Ultra Tour looks like, but the EVO III shorty might be a nice compromise, especially at $100. I've sent PMs to Marcel and tried to call, but I can't get a reply on how tall the shorty is.

I think he was out of town for most of January. Seems like he just got back this past week. You might have better luck getting an answer if you post the question on his windshield forum. I think one or two of his employees monitor that site.

Wow...strong feelings...from what I've seen, the CHAD seems like what I'll go with too...looks like they are addressing any issues now...should be good to go by summer for me!

21" I like it but still get wind at highway speeds. I am 5-8, ok maybe 5-7!

I am thinking of buying the slider version.

I just got my EVO III today and it is worth the wait. I got the tall slider and it was $199. plus shipping. Five min. to install. Works Great, Looks Great. It is the only windshield I will ever need. I lower it for the wife and back up when she lets me drive it.
Marcel a very busy man but a man of his word. If you have a problem let him know.

I think I going to disagree with you there. I bought a lightly used shield on this forum about a month ago... and it had a manufacturing defect... burns/bubbles in a 2" x 4" area from the heat forming process.

I called once and emailed twice. I even got a return email from one of his folks who said Marcel would have to call me back as he personally handles things like that.

My emails were polite (I don't holler too much except for politics).

I haven't written my own review yet while waiting on the call from Marcel.

But...I'm still waiting for a call back.... a month later. I don't know how many contacts he thinks are necessary but, so far, IMHO, I've made two too many.

It must be that they are disorganized or something like that. :dontknow: My wife and I have always gotten top notch service from Marcel. Immediate callbacks and quick resolution to the two problems that we've had getting his windshields to work perfectly for us. It seems strange to me to read about him not taking care of people being that he has bent over backwards to make us happy. :dontknow:
