Wind screen vent

I asked a question earlier this week about where the grill was located on the wind screen. Well, I was incorrect. I really wanted to know the dimension of the vent that people have installed in their wind shield. I found out the vent is from an 1800 version of a Gold Wing and now I would like to know the dimension from the bottom of the wind shield to the bottom of the vent. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

This does not answer your question.

I bought a Goldwing 1800 windscreen vent to insert into the 25" touring screen of my '08 GS
After much placing of masking tape on the windshield & attaching the template I discovered the curvature of my windshield was not the same as that of the vent. Luckily I had not drilled the corner holes to start the cutting.
Windshield back on Spyder sans vent.

That was my experience too. I found, for me at any rate, the curvature was too substantially different to be useful so I abandoned the idea.

Where do I get one of these vents? I have an RT and it should work fine in mine. Thanks.

Okay, I've now discovered there is a wide range of quality and prices. Made by different companies. Also, some made for the GL1500 and some for the GL1800 (I don't have a GW so I don't know how they differ.

So, would someone who bought and installed one in a OEM RT windshield chime in and let me know which vent kit you got and whether it's a good fit. Also, how much trouble it was to install.

If there is another thread that answers these questions, please direct me to it.

Thanks.

The GL vent should come with a paper template to cut the hole in the windshield...

Be aware though, the curvature of a RT windshield is more than the vent so it does not quite fit down right but good enough to work and not too bad to see it.

the one I indicated above fit my shield just fine. granted I have a showchrome shield on my ride but it is the same curvature as the stock shield I have hanging on the wall. at least the vent layed on it as it did on the showchrome shield. near as I can tell they are all made in china.

The vent is not difficult to install.
It comes with a template for cutting the hole.
Tape the template in place and trace the opening with a marker. Drill a pilot hole and then cut the opening with a jig saw or router. Use painter's tape to protect the windshield from the saw when cutting.
Best done with the windshield on the bike (secure mounting). Cover the bike with an old sheet to catch the sawdust (plastic dust?).

Same here

We also have the BRP vented shield. I put Goldwing vent I'm my full size Valkryie shield ( since sold the bike).
We just came through the New Mexixo/ Arazona DESERT on I-40 into Holbrook. Never got overheated. A vented windshield is the way to go.
