• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Why the Spyder is awesome...

After taking the Spyder out all day today, I came home and was gushing to my husband about how great it was.

1) I went on the highway myself, doing 80 at times, hit the dealer 35 miles away for a battery tender and to fix the glove compartment latch. I never would have gone out on two wheels alone, especially on a highway. With the Spyder, I didn't mind. I was able to take what looked like eight inches of papers to grade.
2) They are tearing up the main road by our house. The Spyder was fine. My bikes would have been much harder to handle with the waves in the road
3) I went food shopping. With the Spyder. Try that, Yamaha.
4) After food shopping, I stopped at a pizza place and put a small pizza box and a hero in the frunk. How would you do that on a sport bike?!? Plus the pounds of apples, bananas, blueberries, oranges, and who knows what else, from the store?!?
5) There was music the whole time. I'm sure I looked silly singing along, but it's okay.
6) Potholes, uneven roads, poor road conditions, and the like, were non-issues.
7) I didn't have to worry about parking so I could pull out straight. I can't back into a spot on two wheels, I'm not strong enough to move the bike.
8) There was someplace to store my helmet and gloves when I went into the store.
9) I'm sure I was more visible.
10) Putting gas in was a lot easier compared to my bikes.
11) I wasn't too worried riding the Spyder. I always think I'm taking too much of a chance on the Yamahas.

What do you love about your Spyder vs two wheels?

(Two wheels- well, they are sport bikes. Enough said. Loads of fun too, but a different kind of fun)

I just happened to ride up on a neighbor of mine today. I know he likes the Spyder
but hasn't made the jump yet. He asked me "well, what do you think"?

I told him, that every time I get onboard, it feels new and exciting. EVERY time,
even the morning after a 500 mile day. and especially after the winter layoff.

MUSIC

Jen if you really like to listen to music especially MP-3 or I-Pod on the RT then give some thought to swapping the OEM speakers for JBL GTO 528's front and rear ( yes rear, the inside hole needs to be made larger but it can be done ). The difference is mind boggling and all four can be had about $100.00 - SONIC-ELECTRONIX......I will only vouch for the JBL 528's....( any other JBL's and you are on your own )......Mike

I'll have to look into that. I have the connector for the IPOD, but I don't own an iPod or any Apple products. I was listening to the local country station. I can stream Sirius through my cell phone, so maybe I can connect my phone to the back hookup?!?

Balancing Act

I love my Spyder for all of those reasons, too, AND you don't have to worry about balancing it or finding a place to put your foot when you stop!!
AND, Spyder riders are very friendly people and enthusiastically wave when you meet on the road!

And you can spend days discussing what oil to use. :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:

My wife loaded mine down with strawberries yesterday. The funk and both rear side compartments.

It tripped over 5,000 miles since September 2015 !

Many 2 wheelers approach

Been about 6 weeks into spring riding and I have had quite a few people approach this year and ask various ?'s about the Spyder . Without going into specifics they often just say they feel it's time to get off of 2 wheels .... All I tell them is " yes it's different , but it's wonderful ... And yes feels much safer" . The other day was at GP Bikes and a gentleman and his wife got off their Ultraglide and asked if the ride for the passenger was jerky , to which my wife assured him it certainly was not , he is in the process of purchasing a new RT

Jen,
Other than grading papers; my list pretty much mirrors yours!
(And I'm figuring our a way to carry home a full-sized pizza! :D)

Yup. Since you're making 3 tracks instead of just 1, you can bop THREE TIMES as many bumps and holes! :banghead:

My frunk has accommodated many a 30-pack of beer.

And it has tripped over 16,000 miles since July 2015 !

(So where is that #*%+& new rear tire I ordered on 4/28?) :banghead:

I loved 2 and now I love 3... Both were fun just fell in love with the Spyder... If I had to pick a difference I like it would visibility...

Another Spyder attribute

I agree with all the posts above, but a real plus for me is standing on the pegs at stop lights - I have knees that protest when bent for too long. I can put the Spyder in neutral, engage the parking brake, stand on the pegs and get some relief.

Just like New Yorkers eat pizza....fold it in half...:roflblack::roflblack:

But I prefer Chicago-Style, Deep Dish pizza!! :2thumbs:
I'm gonna build a box that'll fit over top of the passenger grab-rails, and U-Bolts down to them. It'll be hst the size needed to fit pizza box, with the open end toward the front!
