Why do I now have a BRP Connect icon on my Apple HomePlay screen?

I now have a BRP Connect icon on my Apple CarPlay home screen. It doesn’t appear to do anything, but I am curious as to why it is there. I haven’t tried to delete it yet (don’t know if I even can) though I guess it doesn’t hurt anything being there.
The 3.1.0 update seems to be working fine. Headset connection is fast and CarPlay becomes active fairly quickly as well. WiFi connection is still a little troublesome though. I wish BRP could have done something about that in their software update.

Do you have the BRP Connect app on your phone, amkrat? It CarPlay possibly sourcing it from there?

I agree that the BRP Connect/BRP Go apps aren't needed now that Apple Carplay is working.

I checked the Apple App Store on my phone, and downloaded the BRP GO! app to my iPhone.
One of the options was I was navigating through the app was to "Connect To My Vehicle" when then asks you to choose what display size you have, 10.25" or 7.8".

If you choose 10.25" it gives you 3 steps to follow:
Step 1 - pair your headset via bluetooth
Step 2 - connect your phone to the USB cable
Step 3 - Open the Apple Carplay Applet on your display

So I have no idea why the BRP Connect or Go app is showing up.


As for the problems with a WiFi connection, that has more to do with your WiFi network than with your Spyder.
I occasionally have an issue connecting my Spyder to my WiFi network when it's parked in the garage.
But that's because my truck is usually also parked in the garage, and it sits between the WiFi device in my house and my Spyder, so I'm guessing the metal body and bed of my truck is partially blocking the signal.

After this showed up, I downloaded the BRP Connect app from the App Store thinking that there might be a connection. It took me down a bit of a rabbit hole and for a while I thought that there might actually be something useful like what I had on my '17 RT, but I ended up at a dead end. It specifically told me that it was not compatible with the 10.25" RT screen. So, I deleted the app. Apple CarPlay works very well without it. I guess that I will just ignore the icon.

I went down that same rabbit hole with the same results. I agree with you about the wifi issues. My Spyder lives in the pole barn shop about 75' from the house. I have a mesh range extender out there and the Mac computer and Echo device both report excellent connectivity, but it is still not the same as being near the router in the house. Some days it connects right away and some days it takes multiple tries. Patience is the key.
