• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Why a tall windshield

That’s because Idaho has ridden through before you and cleared them all out for you Ric :2thumbs: :2thumbs:

That reminds me of one time when I lived in Louisiana. It was Love Bug season. I was on I-12 heading west toward Baton Rouge on my way to work. In front of me was a box style delivery truck. I saw a huge black solid cloud of love bugs ahead. When the truck went though it, I swear, there has a big square hole in that cloud of bugs!! :roflblack:

I bought a 7JRock 14" thinking that would be enough since the OE 12'' did a fair job. Down the road a few miles and realized 14" wasn't enough so I ordered a 16".

This size is pretty darn good for me.....flows wind over helmet pretty well (still need face shield down above 50mph) with little buffeting. I do get wind around the sides which hit outer edge of my arms. I believe 17" would be perfect for me....I'm 5-10. Not sure I could see over an 18".

PS: if someone can use a 14" and 16" I can make u a deal on both sold together. I'd like to try a 17". PM if interested

Need a tall shield to keep the bugs off my teeth because I'm smiling so much.:joke::joke::joke:

I prefer to look over the shield and not have buffeting------------ thus a well vented windshield to fill the bubble of still air.

I am also 5-10 and the 18" 7Jurock with a flip and 9" wider does a fantastic job of keeping my wind free. The flip works well at pushing the air higher - it is well over my helmet.
If your torso measures the same as mine, you will see well over the w/s and even at 18", it could have been an inch or two taller and still see over it. Try the thing with a piece of carboard clipped to the top of your w/s and go for a ride. Raise it 'til it's at that perfect height and measure. Do not do this with the bike parked in the garage. I did, and that's why mine could be higher. Learn from my mistake.
Lastly; always get the flip because it works like it's a taller windshield. And 7Jurock measures from the bottom to top of the w/s itself, along the centerline.

My windshield experience is a little different from others. I had a stock WS on my RTL. If it was raining I got wetter when the shield was at it's highest. The bubble (vacuum) behind the WS would suck water in and onto me. I tended to stay dryer with the WS down a bit. On my Goldwing I have a WS made by Cee Bailey Plastics. Unfortunately they only make aircraft WS now and no longer have motorcycle screens. The one on my Goldwing has a permanent nacelle opening (vent) that eliminates the vacuum bubble. The only buffeting I get is from side winds. In rain there is very little water hitting me from the vent. I think those who have added vents to their WSs might find a more comfortable and even dryer ride with the vent opened a bit. Just another perspective..... Jim

PM coming.

I got a bigger windshield because of the stock windshield had bugs hitting me in the face in the summer. I am 5'6" and got a 23 inch with a vent from F4. The short stock windshield pushes the air upwards over you when the air is cooler, but when the air is warmer it does not push as much air upwards instead you feel in your face . Hot air is harder to move than the cold air.
