There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Which way to go? '12 or '13?

I had decided to get a 2013 RT Ltd or RTS to get the new frame and the floorboards. This will be my first Spyder. There are some really good deals on 2012 models right now, which would easily pay for floorboards. So that brings it down to the new frame and suspension. Is the extra $ for a 2013 worth getting the latest design frame and suspension? In your opinion, which way would you go?:dontknow: For argument's sake, lets say the net difference is $2500 to $3000.

Are there any other major upgrades to the 2013 models that I am missing?
Thank you.

Only you can make that call but take into account resale value. When you upgrade in a few years time the 2013 will be a year younger in the eyes of he purchaser.

Tough decision! I sure like my 2012 RT LTD, but have done a few mods to get it to the point I like, so really is a personal choice and what you can live with or without???

 Choices...
The 2012 is a proven design that'll cost less up front; gives you more money for farkling it!
The 2013 has been improved in a whole bunch of ways that make it a better package...
But it's also got some lingering questions about the front suspension and how to adjust it...
It's your call; test ride them both, and let us know which way this story unfolds! :2thumbs:

Net difference is way more than $2,500.00 to $3,000.00. There are some really great deals on the 2012. If you're looking for savings the choices is obvious. However, the "13" is worth every penny in the difference. IMHO.Last year this time I had made the decision to wait till the 2013's came out. I'm glad I made that decision. (This is coming from someone who had a 2010 RT Premier Edition with all kinds of upgrades; rode several 2011's and 12's from my dealer during my rehab).

By net I meant I would spend about $1500 to have floor boards and a sway bar installed. Total diff about $4K-$4.5K
Thanks for your replies so far.

The new Brembo's alone are worth it to me, that extra bit of stopping power could be priceless should you really need it one day.

I'm in the same boat.

With all the research I've done, I'm going with the 2013. I was leaning towards the RT Limited, but, just today I started looking closely at the RT S. I hope to have mine by Spyderfest. I've been talking to a couple of dealers out of state. The dealers here in Indianapolis aren't willing to deal.

'12 vs '13 - two very different Spyder Roadsters unless you're only comparing motors.

Get the one you can afford.

I had to make the same decision too and went with a 2012 Limited and I am glad I did. I recently picked up a new RT-622 and made several mods to the Spyder and I am still under the 2013 price.

Having said that, either one would be a great pick.

so..!!

When all's said and done..it's still up to you. Resale values are good with all roadsters, good deals available on the 2012, nice improvements on the 2013's but if you never had one you will not notice. so for my two cents I would get the top of the line 2012 and farkle it up...good luck love a pic of your choice...!!:dontknow:

Call Len at Pitbull Powersports, they are making some custom versions of the 2013, might be something you are looking for and i know the price will be right, and great service to boot.

I would go with the 2013 after looking at the changes that have been made I know the cost is a big thing in making what bike to get but I think you will like the 2013.

Baja Ron's Sway bar and Seal Floorboards come in at under $750. combined, less freight charges. I understand that Ron's Sway Bars are pretty easy to install and my Seal's are a piece of cake to install. I also hope to have the 2013 Seal RT's ready for SpyderFest for those who want all the new improvements but don't want to pay $1,000. for the smaller BRP floorboards. The Branson PD already made that decision on their two new ST Spyders from Cowtown.

Ride in comfort,

Hard decision to make on your part. There have been a couple other threads discussing same subject--but some additional ideas and reasons.

I recommend test drive and see which you like best as the ultimate test.

I had a '12 RT-L and it was totaled and now I have a '13 RT-L. I was finally able to get the '13 out of the garage last Saturday of a 100 mile ride (freeway and back roads). All I can say is the ride and handing was so much nicer than my '12. Note: '13 had the ball joints replaced before I picked it up.

Of course, your mileage may very and it is indeed a personal decision. No matter the year, it will still be a fun time!
