• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

which saddel bags

I love my Corbins. Don't worry about not being able to remove and take into a hotel room....you can fit the bag into the Corbins! As with so many things expensive but worth it.

So you have to buy separate bags to go inside of the bags---:dontknow:

We put the V35s (and the V46 top) on W's, using the Kewl tail rack and Industries7 side mounts (yes, they can go together).:2thumbs::clap: From the pics I've seen, the BRP look identical to the I7 side mounts, but have not seen in person. Mountings for both are SOLID. Had Givis before, loved 'em - these are even better! All the room we need, secure, easy dismount, etc.

V35s with rack from Shawn who used to be with Industries7. I recently took the rack off to do some work on the Spyder. Almost ready to get them back on though. Going to need them for the trip to the BRP event in Los Angeles. If I was rolling in cash I woud go with the Corbin's though.

Nope - the BRP mount differently than the IND7 units. If you look close the IND7 appears to hook onto the seat mounts in the front - where the BRP unit mounts through the rear 'vents' just under the seat. I should have mine by the end of the month--- will let you know.

Great info on the saddlebags

Yeah, tough crowd - but I love the way the participants of this site share their information and opinions. Thanks!

Why did you sell the bags after the first big trip?

'Cause i liked your Givi hard bags and I wanted to buy them from you, Brian!
:(

Actually, the lovely bride is tallish, and she had them up against her calves with the stock passenger pegs. (Recall I even flipped them around the "wrong" way to get more space for her.) Also, they sit higher if the straps are over the seat (if you ride solo) but I don't typically go on such long trips alone.

Now that I have tjfischer's passenger peg extensions on, they'd probably have been OK...

Now... ddeyle's Corbins. He told me they were not fun to install, but man they look sweet on a Spyder. They are gigantic inside as well. I was impressed with the amount of room he had in them.

Not to put ddeyle on the spot, but, I heard through the Massachusetts grapevine that he he had some issues with Corbin's shipping or service or something--do you care to elaborate for our readers about your installation..."disappointments?!":dontknow:

(They do look awesome, tho', don't they, WackyDan?)

I know this is ignorant of me, but does Corbin do installs at bike shows if, say, you had ordered the accessories in advance?

They did installs at the Gatlinburg thingy last year. You didn't even have to order in advance, they had a number of items that they brought in their rig. I know a number of people got seats installed there and a few got the bags also. I'm not sure if thats still an option since they went up for sale. :dontknow:

The only problem that I had with Corbin was the box that the hardware came in. (box was not damaged from shipping) It looked like they packed it with a shovel. The sealed hardware packs were all broken open and nuts, bolts and washers were everywhere. Also had a few nuts, bolts and washers that were missing. My main frustration was that it was 9:00 p.m. and I didn't have enough hardware to finish that evening. I think that everyone knows how it is, you have plenty of 3/8 - 16 bolts in the garage except the length that you need.

I called Corbin and was told a manager would contact me. Have not heard back from them in the last week.

One positive thing that I will say is that the bags themselves were packaged very well. I have never seen a company use that much foam and bubble wrap. The boxes that they came in were three to four times the size of each bag.

The install itself wasn't hard to do. If you do install these bags make sure that you have a set of ratchet box wrenches. It will make it easier since in some places it is too tight for a socket wrench.

:agree:
Corbin bags are AWESOME. Got mine in gloss black to finish out my Phantom theme. As Lamonster says, they are HUGE. Between them and the trunk, don't know what additional storage I'd need.

They didn't use metric bolts?

Corbin saddlebags

We have the Corbin saddlebags and had them installed at the Spyder function They are supposed to be 25gallon, the biggest on the market. we love the extra space and they completely change the looks of the Spyder for the better and move the passenger pegs forward:2thumbs:

They did not use metric bolts. The bolts for the Corbin brackets pass through the existing holes on the :spyder2: and have a washer and nut on the other side. To install the bags you remove the factory bracket that has the passenger foot peg and replace it with one from Corbin. The tapped holes on the Corbin brackets are also American Standard threads.

That kind of stuff always irks me----- if you're making something to go on a product that has metric - make your product use metric too!

Something I recently installed on the Spyder was non-metric and I just shook my head--- might have been my Corbin seat.
