There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Which rear tire should I get?

Gentlemen,
Well Phooey....after reading the posts about how much everyone liked the Yokohama S Drive tire for the rear, I placed an order with Discount Tire Direct. They called today said that the S Drive tire was discontinued. So please advise me on my next option. We have a 2012 RT-Limited and a 2013 RT-S. They have only 4800 miles, but the 2013 is already at the first wear bars and I get goosey with old tires on my vehicles. Thanks for your help!

There are several options in the 215/60R15 size. I have used this size, it works well and causes no problems. I am currently using a General Altimax RT43. 19,000 miles so far.

:agree:, this was a Great tire …. and I recommended it very strongly, and many folks agreed with my choice …. But in reality time and Tire development advance …. currently the Vredestein Quatrac 5 is the best all- around tire on the market …. they ( the company ) still lists a 215/60-15 on their web site but it appears it isn't sold by anyone ….. But the 205/60-15 is available and will work on any Spyder ….. use the advanced search in the upper right corner and get the User reviews for this tire …. good luck …. Mike :ohyea:

According to their website, Quottro Tires out of the province of Quebec, Canada has this size. They’re saying they’re available at least.

Thanks for the heads up ….. but for folks in the US they may not be able to get them … or the shipping would be prohibitive …… Mike :ohyea:

I am on my 2nd General Altimax RT 43 rear tire, and it has 400 miles on it( due to me being back in the work force again).

The S-Drive is NOT discontinued. Lots of them in stock at the Yoko warehouse. I just got some in last week. They have discontinued some sizes but the 205/55-15 that we use is readily available.

That said, the replacement is the Yokohama ADVAN FLEVA V70 in the same size and Tire Rack now has them in stock so they are transitioning that size now.

Thank you all for your expertise. In reading about the Yokohama Advan Fleva V 70, I think that our colder conditions in Kansas may not be a good match for that tire. JCthorne, could you share your source for the S drive tire with me? If I can't find them, I'll go with Jeriatric's call and give the Kumho ecsta a try.
Thank you all, and stay where it's cool. 102 degrees in Kansas today.

I would recommend the General Altimax RT43 over the Kumho. I ran Kumho’s when we thought they were the only option available but they are not the best in wet conditions. I ride 30,000 miles a year so I have some real experience with them.

We have been happy with the General Altimax RT 43 and the Kumhos Ecsta AST getting much better wear on the roads around here (Colorado, Utah, Okla, KS, MO). Discount Tire has been able to get them in and swap them out - all I need to do is bring them the wheel and we're good to go.

The temperature 'warning' is the same as all other Yoko performance tires including the S-Drive. If you really are interested in hot dogging the bike when its 20deg outside then you need to be looking at Blizzeks, not Kumhos. We have ridden ours down to 16deg without difficulty. Yes, the tires have less grip when that cold. So do I.

We get our tires for the shop through the commercial sales side of Tire Rack. The Yokos are normally shipped direct from Yoko's warehouse in California unless Tire Rack Shreveport has them on hand as that warehouse is closer.

I am very happy with this one on our 2014 RTL. The size seen here resulted in near perfect speedometer readings when compared to GPS.
