• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Which is better??

This 85 degree heat wave we've been having is about to cook my right leg to a crisp :yikes: . Time to fix the problem: Which product works the best: the package deal of the air dam, heat shield, and air management system OR the fancan. :dontknow: Both are sold from our fine list of vendors and I'm sure they both work great, but does one work better than the other?? . P.S. I have an '08GS

Thanks SteveMac. :thumbup:I actually read this post prior to posting my question. But seeing as yours is an RT and being built a "little different" from the GS, I was hoping for some feedback from the GS/RS crowd. But I am thankful for ALL who reply!! :D :D

I've never had any problem with heat out of my RS. I guess I just don't see the problem. But there are enough complaints about it I'm sure it's an issue, just don't understand how.

My foot never gets hot, my leg never gets hot, I've never made any modifications to that part of my Spyder. :dontknow:

There is always hot air blowing out on the right side but when the fan kicks on...man watch out:yikes: the air will be so hot it will feel like it is blistering your ankle and lower leg.nojoke. Feels great in the winter but :cus: in the summer!!!

:agree:
Will be in the market for re-routing that right side heat. Looking forward to checking out the vendors offerings at Spyderfest this year!

Can you hold out until SpyderFest? SpyderPops will be there! Suspect we will be doing something for sewnonnie's GS also.

I have spyderpops heat management system and it makes a big difference. I know he (Harvey) will be at spyderfest and he was putting them on last year. Its well worth the $$$. Also it puts the bars on the heat gage down one or two.

Better check the Y Gaskets...... if you're getting that much heat there's a good chance they're shot.... easy to replace. If they are shot then no amount of aftermarket goodies will solve your problem.......

be happy not to use an RT in the heat .. on my GS the first was I de-installed the plastic-boards under the engine .. a tip from Lamont & was really helpfull - and do have the new "fan-adapter" which is installed on the newer versions ?

What is the problem with the heat, Have any of you ever had a motorcycle before you had the Spyder?
You're sitting on top of a heat pump[engine] They all throw heat, it's not like your sitting in a car with a firewall and a engine 3 feet away from you.:dontknow:

:agree: But even your Tri-Glide will shut down the rear cylinder if it thinks that your right knee might burst into flame...

It's called parade mode, Haven't been in a parade yet, My 6n gets hotter than my Tri, And the last time i took my Sons Bussa out' that's even hotter, Until light speed. :D
What i'm saying is heat is part of the ride.

Are you wearing shorts and sneakers? I have ridden in 114 degree weather (on our 2008 GS) and never felt like anything was blistering. I wear jeans and 10 inch Corcoran boots, style 1944, with water proof ventilating sides.

On my GS I removed both plastic pieces under the motor to help.
SpyderPops System on the side of the fan to coral the air into the radiator helps a lot.
Periodically tighten the 2 "Y" gasket 10mm bolts and check for gasket wear.
I wear a "Magnum" aftermarket Army boot that is light like a sneaker but keeps heat off my ankles.

Well yes, I do wear shorts and sneakers most of the time, but still can feel it through the jeans- especially when the fan kicks in. I'm gonna try the air management system and see how that works.

Me too!!! Thinking about getting exhaust wrap too....

The place I noticed the most heat when one of the 'Y' gaskets needed to be replaced was in the 'Y' panel just ahead of the seat. The panel used to heat up so much I couldn't place a hand on it.

I'll check the Y gaskets on it tomorrow-thanks.. is it common for the gaskets to go out at around 5500 miles???? I would think they would last a little bit longer than that :dontknow:
