There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Where's the Oil Pressure switch - 2010 RT SE5?

I have a 2010 Spyder RT se5 . Could someone tell me where the oil pressure switch (sensor ) is located?/ Can I access it from the bottom of the Spyder ?
Which panels do I need to remove ? I've seem pics on service manual but I don't understand just where it is ,How to get to it .

I have dis-assembled both sides in the past. I've replaced spark plugs ,wires, air filter, changed oil ,filter . I've added rear speakers so I am familiar with taking my Spyder apart ;)

Thank you

Well, here's another pic from the service manual. You have your lower coolant hose in the picture that goes from the radiator to the thermostat. It's inboard and forward of that. You can get a good shot at it by raising up the Spyder and removing that lower, right hand side belly pan. Should be able to reach up and get to it from under there.

:p

That's a heck of a story, guess I'll drain my oil and inspect it first before I replace the oil pressure switch.

Oh, and I got the engine light and low oil pressure lights flashing and limp mode up to 3600 rpm's. Just did oil change, oil filter, trans filter about 100 miles ago. It was running great, only has 19,000 miles on it. My dealer is almost 2 hours away. There is a local dealer but I've never been able to work with him. He always is 60-90 days for anything. I wanted BUD's put on it last year and he told me in 2 months. I rode 2 hours to Schaeffer's Motorsports,

and they checked it out in 15 minutes. No Charge, no problem; diagnosed a bad plug wire.

Uh,oh , It looks worse today. I'm working , my wife decided to clean our Jeep and she was in the garage . There's a good size puddle of oil under the Spyder ! Can hardly wait to get it up in the air so I can take panels apart and see what happened. Guess I'll see after supper.

:gaah: hopefully something simple

Well I tore side panels off ,Can't find the source of the oil on floor ,wasn't a lot maybe half-pint or so . But I started the Spyder and looking in the oil tank ,it appears the oil is moving ,and foamy so I guess that shows the oil pump is working . I ordered an oil pressure sensor , no local shop had one in stock . So we wait . Will try that and see what happens

Well, finally got a new oil pressure switch. Just replaced the old with the new ,new one was a different socket size ?

So , I started the Spyder and my low oil pressure light is gone !
But I still have check engine light and I'm still in limp mode . Oh, I can see oil circulating in oil tank so ,,,,,,, .Guess I call my service manager tomorrow

Well, It's fixed !!! It was the oil pressure switch .
I had to get it out of the garage and ride it ,took two tries until the limp mode and flashing check engine light went away. It derated twice but then it cleared up .

Now does anybody know why revving it up in the garage doesn't work but riding it around the block does ??

That's cos Limp Mode is a feature that limits engine revs/road speed in any given gear, so it's looking for both the revs & speed signals to be within 'acceptable parameters' before it'll cancel the active Limp Mode & any associated warning. ;)

And the 'Check Engine Light' is a 'catch-all' warning that comes on for a wide range of things, some important, some not so much; but it too will stay on until ALL the potential triggers are back within 'acceptable parameters' - in this case, it was probably the 'Limp Mode' that'd been triggered by a Low Oil Pressure warning that needed to be cleared before the Check Engine Light could be cleared, and to do that, you needed the Spyder's engine to run long enough with acceptable oil pressure in order to clear the Low Pressure Warning; and then you needed the Spyder to move enough to send acceptable signals for both the engine revs & the road speed.

Clear as mud, hey?!

Fixed and Running
