• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Title says it all, A group of us is planning a trip to Deals Gap and need some advice on where to stay, hope some locals can give us some good advice.... Thanks, Ohio Spyder Ryders...:D

I usually stay at the MICROTEL in Robbinsville, N. C. It is near the gap with food, gas and services available in a town that caters to the Gap.

Last time there, we stayed in Pigeon Forge.... lots of night time stuff to do there and in Gattlinburg. Easy access to other great roads in the area too.

There are tons of places to stay...You can stay in Townsend (The quiet side of the Smokies), Pigeon Forge (Tourist trap from h***), Fontana Village, Iron Horse, Deals Gap itself, Maggie Valley, N.C., Robbinsville, Tellico Plains, just Google each town and look for places....

There's more just can't think of them right now!!!

This has the potential to be a really useful thread. My wife and I are planing to go riding to NC in Spring. We'd like to stay at a centric location and kind of "radiate" out onto different and interesting roads. Looking forward to seeing all the suggestions of the knowledgeable riders of that area.
Cheers.

All good places, I think robinsville is dry ( no booze ) but it has been over a year. They even make a place to wash your bike. Microtel is biker friendly. The Cherolho ( sp ) is a great senic ride, but fill up, eat up first.
Maggie Valley has a motel named Travelowes. I stay there a lot, Nice Family motel. In this area check to see if Wheels through Time is still there. I twas just down the street, but they were thinking about moving. Great museum about American bikes and carls.
Pick a road, all good.
Have Fun.

We stayed at the Microtel in Maggie Valley, NC...not too touristy...good restaurants...and a nice hub for heading out to many nice rides.
