• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Where to place jack stands?

Where is the best locations for placing the jack stands under :spyder:??
I know not to jack up the swing arm.

Specifics and/or pictures will help.

Okay, why can't we jack up the swing arm? I have raised the entire Spyder with my motorcycle jack once but its awfully wobbly on that alone. I use a standard floor jack right on the shock mount of the swing arm to get the back end up and place a concrete block under the rear tire. I also place jack stands under the fronts in the same location as lamonster's pictures. Is that going to damage the Spyder? If so, I may have been "living on the edge" with my Spyder's health every oil change.

Are the mounts for the pegs THAT strong that it will support the weight of the bike up on jack stands?

Honestly that kind of scares me. I've replace a couple of sets of pegs. It's just cast pot aluminum. I do pretty much everything on the floor. If I have to change a tire/wheel, or do the brake squeek fix, I use a motorcycle jack. Centered in the front between the tie rod mounts. There's a flat support there for your front storage. Just make sure it's centered.

What I ended up doing for now is this:
A jack under the left and right a-frame, shock supports on the front wheels. Up close to the tires and holding only the metal a-frame (not crimping the plastic covering of the lower a-frame.)

Then I jack up gthe rear under the rear shock mount momentarily and placed three bricks on 1 oak board under the main frame where it bends up into the swing arm cavity. This is also just prior to the exhaust splits.

The idea is to raise the tires off the ground during the Spyder hybernation.

p.s. I bought the 2.25 ton jack from Sears during the Black friday sales for $24.99 normally it's between $49~$59 some times higher.
I also bought the jacks for $19/pair.
