There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Where is the ENGINE VIN located on the Engine Block?

My lovely State requires that the engine and frame VIN numbers match. Sure it is easy to see the frame VIN, but where is the Serial number on the engine located, and just how much work is required removing panels to get a picture of the engine VIN.

Other posters have corrected me, the Number DO NOT match. And after inspection, I find that they are correct. So let's just say the State requires that I submit the engine number along with the VIN.

The last post in this series gives the short version how to find it. It was much easier than I thought!!

I feel your pain. I just went through this same thing with PennDot. :banghead:

HEY PAUL, You will need the Vin# and the engine # to apply for the new MN title. But when you get your new title, the engine # will not be on the new title.
both #'s do not match. Just went through that with N's Spyder.

Thank you so much. Now I will be able to start of the correct side when pulling panels!

It also sounds as if not all engine and frame numbers match. I suppose the State will use that information only for verification if the bike

is stolen and sold for parts.

The engine serial number and VIN on my Spyder are not identical. You can get to the engine number by removing the left side #1 in your owner's manual and finding the picture in post #9 above. I had to use a mechanic's mirror to read it.

Thank you for your responses, the picture was especially helpful because then I knew what side to start on. I worked too hard by starting with the mirror and removing panels till I found the engine. Still couldn't see the VIN.

So for those searching for this info... All you have to do is remove the lower, small panel on the driver's side (left foot) by the air duct (The one with the "Can Am" logo on it,) no screws to remove it!! Then remove the three screws that hold a small computer box, and it is on the engine block right behind there and easy to see or take a picture.

Your picture doesn't show a number. I followed what you said and we can't find the number either. Where is the number? Is it the sticker on the back of the computer?

I am in MN as well, removed left side and computer. I cannot see a number.

The Engine Number is stamped into the engine block, usually pretty much in the position shown in the image displayed in post #9, which is visible basically right where the OP shows you in post #13. You might need to clean off a bit of oil &/or road dirt, but it's gonna be there on the block somewhere.

With some effort we found it behind and to the right. So from OP's picture (which I can't see a number on either), it is to the right and behind. We were able to feel some numbers back there, clean them off, and get a phone back there with a few attempts and were able to get a picture of the number. Page 160 of my 2014 RT manual showed a better picture and we could figure out that it was behind and not visible without taking out more panels or getting a camera back there to take a picture.
