• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

WHERE IS SCOTTY AKA NANCYSTOY

Here is my take...
I have PM'd Scotty quite a few times in the last few weeks on things related to my bike. He is always more than willing to help. He mentioned that he is swamped with things related to him and Nancy building a house(nearly complete), moving and preparing his next house to sell. He uses SLs to escape from all that. But...when it becomes, let's say "not so much fun", it is easy to walk away for awhile...

In the meantime he will be missed!! He has made my time owning my bike more fun and less expensive.

Thanks, Scotty!!!

I have to agree. When we first got our Spyder in 2012, I used to spend many hours on here reading posts, and enjoying the conversations. Now, not so much. It's starting to remind me of the many car forums that I no longer visit because the information to B.S. ratio is just to small...

Do you remember just recently the post by a member whose spyder went up in flames. Within that thread I thought that Scotty made mention something to the effect...... That's it for me (in reference to accusations being thrown around).

I can't seem to find that post; so, I'm not sure if the OP of that thread had that thread removed.

You gotta be :cus: me?! Shoot! I'd be the first to give him a pat on that back for helping others with tons of good tech advice. I PMed him only a couple weeks ago, on an issue with my RSS, as I consider him to one of the most (if not, the most) technically competent member here, and he got right back with me pronto with the tech specs I needed.

Well, whether the accusations & recriminations had anything to do with his forum vacation or not...................he's gotta do what he thinks is right for him. We'll save a place for him!

What everyone has to remember is that this is all a hobby for the majority of us. When you start taking these things seriously (especially on a forum) it's either time to step away for awhile or find a new hobby....

The number of posts on this thread speaks well to Scotty's knowledge and ability to share it well with others. His opinion and knowledge is well received and respected.

However, the truth be known... it seems too many seem to make their living out of posting constantly without any content to their posts. :banghead:

I am sorry Drew, but Scotty has a lot of knowledge and while there are those that pretend they do, it isn’t the same.

Never said the contrary. However, he does all of this for the same reason almost all of us do. Its a hobby. Nothing more.
When it isn't fun anymore you shouldn't do it.

There are a LOT of knowledgeable people on this forum, and some that are fun to have around even with the pointless banter.
Sorry, but no one single member is any better than another.

I was hoping the thread would work itself back to the original intent. We will surely miss Scotty and his wisdom. He always gave good advice whether it be mechanical or philosophical. We are hoping that he will come back to SL.

I do dislike the snipeing that has been going on. Sorry Snoopy, but its out of line on this thread. IMO of course.

Ok, I'll stop.

Just no one asked before. lol

I agree with all of the above and of course no single member is better in one sense of the word.
But in another sense of the word Scotty is better.
Better at long distance diagnosis.
Better at procedural fixes.
and better at finding answers to off the wall questions.

I don’t think I’m alone in this.
When I read a thread about a mechanical issue I scan all the replies until I see Scotty’s answer.
Which is usually the right answer.

I think that in your efforts to defend your "friend" you totally missed the point......
Nevermind, it's really not that important of a discussion anyway, at least not for me enough to keep commenting....carry on...

Scotty, if you want to be here, many appreciate the help and insight. If you dont, that's cool too......done.

This is not why I started this thread. I just was wondering where Scotty was. You guys are off the point.
