• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Well I finally got the box open and then after taking a few videos realized that they don't come with a SD card :gaah:. Now that I have those issues figured out I don't know where to mount it. Any suggestions for the RT or the trailer?
 
Greetings, my friend! I mount my GoPro to my RT-S's dash. Here's a couple of photos of the mounting. I've found with it mounted on the dash, there's less wind noise and vibration. Hope this helps.

I have mine mounted to my helmet so you look at what the driver is looking at.

Also don't hit the front button twice or you will get a bunch of pictures and not video, make sure the battery is charged

No vibration? The picture may be stable but you can hear the camera chattering like a son of a gun inside the case. I hear stuffing some tissue inside helps with that. A great place to put the camera for the twisties is on the RT is the small black panel next to the frunk lid under the mirror. Its low so it makes a good shot and is very stable. Mine was on the left side and the pipe noise was pretty good surprisingly.

I'll use the dash mount to do a face shot of me that I can dub into an edited movie. Any thing on the windshield, plus the brackets, make a distraction although if you have the backpack on you can see what it is you're filming. Right now I leave the backpack off because I need the longer battery life.

Lamonts mount on the trailer does good shots. Like a caboose on a train. Toot-toot.
 
Not exactly an answer to your question, but I have a Drift Technologies X170. I mounted it on the dashboard so it gives a good steady picture. I posted a couple of videos that I took with it, but frankly, they are of poor quality because of my own incompetence.

I've posted a pic of my RT with the camera mounted and a still I captured from the video. It might give you an idea of where to mount your GoPro. I fabricated the mount so it can attach using double stick tape. That way, when I'm not using the camera, there is nothing permanently mounted to the bike.

One question, does the GoPro have a remote control, or do you have to press the buttons on the camera?
I can start and stop the Drift with a remote on/off.

I was looking at the Drift, I have compared a lot of them and read a lot of reviews and BikeWeb. The screen and the remote are two big +'s for the Drift.

Do any of you use a tether on yours? I'd hate to see it go flying down the road although that might make a cool video if it survived.

Seth, is your helmet a full face or modular? If so how far back on the helmet do you put the mount?
 
Happy to help. I do have to admit the Trailer mount is a cool idea, and I used the Dash mount on our RT. But the bumps/ribbing on the dash made it impossible to use the 3M mount for more than a weekend. I never took the time to make a bracket like others have.

Having it on the helmet I think has a cool factor... Until you watch the videos a few times. For example...

We drove along a beach one day, and it was mounted on my helmet. Lets just say I calmly deleted the video as I felt my wife's eyes sitting next to me burn what was left of my brain with her eyes. :roflblack:

You see. The camera recorded every move of my head. And I found the prettiest girls on the beach. Over and over and over... hahahahaha

OK... In all seriousness. Not only that but with me looking left and right so much being a defensive driver, looking at the scenery and so on. You get dizzy watching to much of it. So we started looking for mount positions on the bike.

I have a Arai full face and its slightly forward of center on the lid you could put it back farther, I will warn you as well that you have to tilt the gopro back about 10-20 degrees which makes it look like you would be looking slightly up but you look down more that you think, I would do some quick videos and come back to look at it to get the angle right.

here is the middle part of the dragons tail video I had to make into 3 parts. the angle is IMHO the right amount to see thru corners, this was the trip up the hill with Harvey in toe, I female officer expressed her view that we should slow down in the first part.
 
I have mine mounted off my left mirror on my GS. Got some great video with it over this past weekend. So glad I bought one. :)

I have mine on the mirror stalk also. I use a RAM yoke mount, which makes it easy to switch sides; no tools required.
 
My Sypder is a rolling film vehicle. One Gopro on the front windscreen, one on top of the rear center bag, a Contour HD 1080 on the right side of my helmet and off I go. Makes for some great shots when ryding in a group.

I have wondered about the tether myself and frankly, once that adhesive is stuck to the tupperware it takes a bomb to get it off. The one on my helmet I put on off center a little and its on there baby.
