I saw a photo and quick write-up in Popular Science about 4 years ago - filed the information away in my brain for a rainy day. Rainy day came once and decided to google that 'strange bike' from the Popular Science - but couldn't remember the name of it (so much for my internal storage system).
Finally found it online - read more and thought they were really cool. Joined a mailing list for when they might have a demo near me.
Months went by and I quite frankly forgot all about it - then one day in my email I find a message saying they are having a Demo Day about 45 minutes away from me - in about 3 months. I signed up thinking maybe I would go - maybe I wouldn't.
Went about my life and then got a reminder email about a week ahead of the demo - then decided - yeah - I gotta go see one of these. The demo ride was in the spring of 2007 - May or June - something like that.
Called a buddy and asked if he wanted to check these out - told him he probably couldn't ride one because he wasn't special and I had signed up and that the whole demo was really on MY behalf -

.
We both took a spin - and had a blast for a good 1/2 hour ride. He had to run to another appointment - I said I needed to go speak to a salesperson. He was like 'are you going to buy one' - I said - *maybe* - and I knew damn well I was gonna.
Put my $2,000 deposit down - and then had to wait until March of 2008 to get my PE Spyder - never looked back.
My buddy likes them - but is too into his Big Dog Ultra Classic to switch to something else right now. We go out riding (well - we did until his BD crapped out on him a few times).
That was 7,000 miles ago for me!
