• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

When in Maui ...

60..What..!!

I would venture to say that was kilometers not miles..unless all roads are downhill...Do you get the girl with the rental..if not forget it...:roflblack:

Sounds to me like they need to have more Spyders available.

When I first went Spyder hunting the brochure I got from the dealer did say 60 MPG fuel mileage. That brochure was from BRP. Boy was that a misprint, at least that's what the dealer said when I complained about the mileage after I purchased our first Spyder. By the way, the yellow bikini clashes with the blue Spyder.

The rental place called me back fast. I have the :spyder2: rented for one day during our vacation. They only have one--so it will be two-up. They also said there is only one other :ani29: on the island besides the rental one.

Siggggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhh: Only 142 days and counting. :roflblack:

Maui

I rented that sled in October of '11 - was a great ride for the day. I avoided the road to Hana due to the sheer amount of tourist traffic and, instead, road the a loop around the north lobe of the island, stopping frequently. The road around the north part cuts down to one lane but you'll see some beautiful scenery.

Also, I found this guy's site/blog

useful when trying to decide where to ride around Maui. Just FYI.

I have to ask, how much per day is it?

Thank you for the great pictures--these will get akspyderlady even more excited about the trip. Been to Maui twice so far, so have covered all the roads on the island twice. I am going to do Hana Highway mid-week as there is less traffic at that time.

Lyonsden: $250 per day plus tax to rent the spyder. If you want their insurance, add $24. As Hawaii goes--not to expensive, and worth it for the experience IMO.

To be able to spend a day in Paradise on the perfect vehicle for exploring... :2thumbs:
Question: Who's gonna sit up front??? :roflblack:

Took that downhill ride a few years ago. Don't know if you have done it but, I'd not waste my time doing it again. I would go helicoptering(not a word you say) instead

Did this both times we were in Maui. Not everyone's cup of tea but very enjoyable (not the part about getting picked up at your hotel at 2:30am to make it to the top in time for the sunrise). One trip our group left the rim of the volcano in the snow - a couple miles down the snow was gone and it was a fun ride all the way to the bottom! Then Mimosa's and Margaritas In Pa'ia at the small restaurant!

Mama's fish house - OUTSTANDING! I can only imagine how your hips will feel making the road to hanna - what is it like 620 curves, 39 switchbacks, and LOADS of waterfalls to stop and take a dip. Last time I was there you could not continue past Hana to the south but I hear that is open all the way around now. Enjoy your ryde!

Bob: I will be up front. The Spyder is an SM5. It will be like going back to 2008

Huntindog: This will be my third Hana Highway excursion--but I am sure the best--all that good stuff being viewed from a Spyder. I don't think it can get any better. If the road is indeed open all the way back to Wailea, I may give it a try--as long as its paved. :roflblack:
