• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. When in Maui ...

We need to ask them how they doubled the mileage.. I would love to get 60 mpg..
Maybe it's all that good island air;)

Thats not so difficult in Maui!

Maui also offers something like 37 miles of bicycling where you only pedal something like 1 total mile - it's called "Downhill Haleakala!" They take you up the volcano in a car with a trailer hauling up the bikes and you coast down. You could make most of the run with the engine off

...and the trip back? :roflblack:
60 mpg...

But it sure is a beautiful place; even if you only get 30 mpg!

60 MPG is to help get you in the door, then when the Spyder is rented and driven around Maui, the customer is so happy with the machine and the environs, he/she forgets all about the actual mileage!:ohyea:

We did this. It was so much fun. Stopped for lunch and Margaritas on the way down. Now I really want to go back to Maui if I can rent a spyder. Thanks for the post!

I rented a Harley last time I was in Maui and had a great time! Would do it on a Spyder in a heartbeat.

Ya- we did this both times we were in Maui - I hear that they no longer let you cruise from the top in the park for public safety reasons now. Cruiser Bob's got out of the business. I think Maui Mountain Cruisers is also gone now too. :( Now you see the sunrise and ride out of the park to get on the bikes from what I have heard but still has to be fun! Yes - Mimosa's or margarita's in the little towns on the breakfast stops are a nice part of the trip! Then again, how can you screw up a trip to Maui????!!!!

Thank you for posting the information about the Spyder availability in Maui.

Akspyderlady and I are going to go to Maui for a week in August. Previous trips have resulted in no Spyders to rent. Was going to rent a HD last time--but the ergos did not fit me on the HD.

I am going to give them a call. Would love to do the Hana Highway trip on a Spyder. :2thumbs:

EDIT: Okay, I bit the bullet. I have sent them a reservtion request. Will get back and offer particulars if we can get a rental for a day.

:2excited:60 mpg, I wanna see a picture of this down hill highway. Is it possible 60 mph not 60 mpg or 60 ml of margarita:yikes::roflblack::roflblack:

I was going to discuss the mileage with them when I got there. :roflblack:

The highway mentioned is so steep that the rental car instructions were to leave the car in first gear all the way down so as not to burn up the brakes. I would not be riding a bicycle down that one, and I think I will also pass on a spyder ryde on that road. I don't like the brake failure, orange screen that pops up sometimes on steep downhill inclines.

You DO know that we're going to want all of the details on this...
And don't forget the detailed logsheet; showing 60 mpg! :roflblack:

I will surely post details and pictures including our return stop at Mama's Fish House on the North Shore, at the completion of the Hana Highway Ryde.

The big deal here is, will they have the Spyder(s) to rent on the day I want them. I gave them a choice of one of any seven days they choose.

Last summer, one of our members tried to rent a spyder, and it fell through at the last minute. Time will tell, but I have my fingers crossed. You would think reserving 5 months in advance should be the charm. :roflblack:

Took that downhill ride a few years ago. Don't know if you have done it but, I'd not waste my time doing it again. I would go helicoptering(not a word you say) instead
