• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

What's this Extra button next to Ignition Key area for?

I and my wife are new owners of a 2017 Spyder F3 SE6 Limited and noticed there is an extra button on the right side of the ignition key area. I looked in the manual and a picture of that area shows a button on the "left" side for the heated handgrips but a "blank" area on the right side. It is a factory button for sure that lights up and looks like the icon on it is that of a power symbol. The previous owner had no idea what it was for.

Anyone have any ideas what this button is meant for?

TIA,

On my '15 F3S it turns on/off the fog lights.

I checked but this one does not have fog lights. It has blanks where the fog lights would fit, round plastic dummy inserts, but no fog lights.
Could it be perhaps they could be added and the switch is already there?

Just weird if that's the case.

I'm surprised that there is a switch ..... The wiring for the Fog lights is in your harness though ..... all that's the most important part ..... Mike

When you buy the fog light package it comes with the switch and the button insert. I have had fogs put on my two RT versions. The F3's were L's...so they came with the fog lights already installed.

EDIT: I stand corrected on the F3L's. They did NOT come with fog lights. I also had them installed...at the dealer...before delivery. No extra hardware was required for install.

I have fog lights and the yellow switch on my 16 F3-T SM6.....but they don't work, hubby checked the fuses in the Fronk (sic) all good. What are we missing? Switch lights up too...

FOR THE MAIN HEADLIGHTS TO COME ON, ENGINE HAS TO BE RUNNING. maybe same for fog lights. or make sure, they are not dummy blanks

Thanks for all the input. I took the side panel off, which houses the fog light filler plug and there is no wiring there. I suppose they put the power switch there, just in case.

I just installed the garage door opener, works great, there were wires attached to the back of the blank switch I assume they go to fog lights which I dont have. What would I do if i wanted to add fog lights with the garage door opener?

Fog Lights

I have a 2018 F3 Ltd. Installed a set of Fog Lights in a kit from LaMonster. The kit included the lighted switch that controls the on/off of the fog lights. That switch mounts in the hole just to the right of the ignition key. Initially it worked just fine and really helped out visibility at night. As time progressed, the light switch had to be pushed several times, and sometimes held down a few seconds before the fog light would come on. Got a replacement switch and all was well. This seems to be an issue with premature failure in some of those switches, most likely due to the high current switched needed for on and off. The contacts have to be of good quality.

Just my experience with the 2018 F3 Ltd with about 10,000 miles on it. :yikes:;)
