• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

What's the easiest way of Lubing rear bag cables on '21 RTL?

They’ve been replaced once and the dealer has lubed them once, but they are sticking again. Seems like I just need to do this myself. Can I use one of those bicycle cable lube tools for 5/6mm cables? Then what? Flood it with dry silicone spray? Graphite??

What’s the easiest way to reach them?

Thank you all as always.

I would also like to know the same thing. I have had one handle to brake on my 2021 RTL and the other one is stuck now. It came open while going down the road and i reached back and shut it. When i went to open it at home, it was stuck. I am going to the dealership and let them try to open it so they can see what happens (the handle will probably break). I am beyond pissed that I am having to be hesitant about using the side cases due to not knowing if they will get stuck or just fly open for no reason. It is ashamed that I have to ride around with bungee cords in the bags just so I can rig something up to keep them closed in the event of a malfunction. And yes, i know locking them is one way to keep them shut, but that should not be a necessity. I really would like to get this rectified before going on the cross country trip next season.

I’m with ya bro! I broke my original handle, and the dealer broke the other! It can’t be a big deal … right??!!??

Here's what I've used to lube cables.

I assume you clamp that on and flood the cable housing through the small port and the foam in the tool forces it down the cable housing?

How often do you do it? And that solves the problem?
Thanks

Yes, that's pretty much how it works. I used it a lot on my dirt bikes but never had to use it on my spyder. I'm guessing that getting to one end or the other on a spyder's cable would be the most difficult part. Also, the spyder's cable housing may be a bit smaller in diameter than a dirt bike style cable. You may have to wrap one end of the housing to get a good seal to force the lube all the way through. DON"T use WD40! It tends to dry out over time and makes things even worse. Use oil only. Good luck and let us know how it goes. Only may have to use it once and if it doesn't work, look for a crushed or kinked cable.

On my '16, I had to beat on the bag to get it to open while pulling on the handle. After cleaning and lubing the latch, they now open first pull. My cables have never been lubed and pull with very little resistance. Mine were the latches.
