• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

What's the best windshield to avoid buffetting?

I put some Saeng edging on a windshield for my R1100R Beemer and it didn't help at all. I have finally decided that windshields are not for me. I wear glasses and a full face helmet. Windshields just seem to produce updrafts and buffeting and I wind up looking through jiggling glasses and faceshield and my field of vision is distorted badly. The steady blast of wind when riding a "naked" bike removes all the jiggling of the helmet and I can see much better.

How's that for being an odd-ball?

You are correct in saying a steady blast of clean air is far preferable to even a little bit of turbulent "dirty" air.

I am an "all weather" rider. I'm kind of spoiled with my Kawi Concours, as the Rifle shield I have on it along with the fairing gives great weather protection, but still allows me to experience the wind in a clean rush around the top of my helmet. I find that on long trips, the greatest benefit of the windscreen is that it takes pressure off my chest and arms, allowing for a more relaxing, less fatiguing ride for those seven or eight hundred kilometre days.

Cheers,

Bruce

I wonder when Givi or Cee Bailey's will offer their versions. They worked wonders for the Suzuki V-Strom motorcycle which had similar problems. Besides I think Givi should make a matching topcase and saddlebags for the Spyder to increase the touring luggage capicity for long trips.

My wife ordered her Spyder with the touring windshield. The buffeting from it at around 60 mph is terrible. This evening, I put the stock windshield back on but she hasn't tried it out yet. I did notice that the stock unit has a slight turnout at the top. The touring shield does not. Have any of you fellow spyder owners had problems with buffeting? Is there any after market windshields available yet? I sent an email to Laminar Lip, but haven't heard back yet. I would like to hear other's opinions on this.

HI, I FOUND A GUY ON EBAY THAT SELL ONE 3" HIGHER. HAVEN'T PUT IT ON YET, BUT I'M SURE IT'LL WORK BETTER THAN THE TOURING ONE. PRICE WAS 129 PLUS 20 FOR SHIPPING.

I would be leery of that guy selling on ebay... he also sells a hitch that is flawed in its design.

Procede with caution.

Marcel is THE shield guy!

Accept no substitutes!

Hey, I seen that guy on ebay. I even sent him an email asking him about that. He seems good. But I have no idea, since I never tested any of his products.

Well, I HAVE that windshield and it is very good! Finish is excellent, looks good, and the fit is perfect! I've had it about two weeks and it is much better than the touring. Adds almost 4", has a flip at the top, and directs air flow about 4-5" over my head. (I'm 5'7"). Allows air around the sides, so it is cooler than my F1 in the hot weather. I will save my F1 for the fall and early spring, but this is my summer shield!
