Hi all,
First post for me. Picked up my 900 a couple of months back (at around 8 months old, 500 miles). The Ryker is a 2019 model, first put on the road July 2020. Read up a lot on the various forums and fully understand the usual clunks, etc on acceleration from standstill as the CVT engages.
Two things I’m looking at - will absolutely be going to my nearest UK dealer (first service soon), but want to be as clear as possible when I do.
1.
I have something which i’ve only found mentioned a couple of times on other threads, which is clunking/backlash type noise on deceleration. This is usually between around 4,000-3,500rpm and is really noticeable, even to people standing at the road side. Just installed the larger Can-Am screen which has made it even more obvious to me now there is less wind blast.
I’m still trying to capture this deceleration sound properly, seems to me like it is coming from the final drive area but will also try to record sound near the front end of the driveshaft this weekend. Seen some posts about bad transmissions on 2019 models, so may be a possibility too - I don’t get the ‘downshifting’ type jerking with this though.
Any thoughts appreciated.
2.
In addition, I can often feel & hear the occasional heavy clunk through the back end of the Ryker on rough roads and have noticed some play in the rear wheel (not the usual slack in the drive setup, but a little side to side rocking). To eliminate one thing, the wheelnut is fully tight.
Posted a very short video of this here - https://youtu.be/3eL9d1174Ck
Anyone else have that side to side play in the rear wheel?
