• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Whats in your toolkit?

Another thread is asking about the location of the toolkit, and it was noted it is a bit basic and of somewhat dubious quality. So that got me wondering, what do you have in your toolkit? Just the one that came with the trike, added some items, or completly replaced?

Whatever came with my RT from BRP. I figure that kit along with my cell phone and credit card will be enough. I don't carry a bunch of tools and parts in my Tacoma that hasn't been as reliable as my Spyder not going to carry a bunch on my bikes either.

Each their own with & the limited space common additional tools include any variation; a tire plug kit, small air compressor, jumpstart pack, good idea to keep roadside assistance information in with insurance & other paperwork. A credit card dedicated for emergencies is good :lecturef_smilie:as long as you have it with you

Do a search and you'll find posts about carrying everything including the kitchen sink.

I’ve been thinking that it should be an aluminum one as a porcelain one would be too heavy. But in answer to the OP’s question....cel phone and CC is all that I carry.

Well being a life long wrench "Mechanic"
Call me crazy... but I have a nice set of Snap-On tools is each vehicle even my wife's car.
I have a leather bag I made for each and have pliers, wrenches, screw drivers, torques,
Allen, and more.... and oh yea tire plug kit, most of the time they have been used it was
to help out someone else....

Tools

:coffee: C Card, Cell Phone, Snacks, a bottle of water and a Car and Driver magazine. (Still have not read a complete article) Just Lucky I Guess......

Since I got mine used, there was no tool kit in it. I haven't been doing any long rides so it's not really an issue as yet - both myself and my brother have trucks, so if I broke down, I wouldn't be more than an hour away from either of us.

Having said that, I was thinking of something like this: https://www.newegg.com/p/0HV-0069-000M1?Item=9SIA2NU8F61638 I have some dual sided ratcheting wrenches, a screwdriver handle with multiple heads, a Really cool adjustable with a ratcheting end with sockets (hard to describe) and a few other odds and ends in a tool kit I keep in the truck. Oh, and I have a Gerber or Leatherman in each vehicle, as well as the Gerber that's usually on my belt. In my ST, I had a Stanton Multi-tool kit, compressor and mushroom plug kit.

My wife carries the StopnGo mushroom plug tire repair kit with compressor on the F3T. I carry the Rugged Geek battery jump pack, the Lamonster stepless ratchet/bit tool, a paint can lifter to pull the push pins, and assorted zip ties, replacement push pins and 6 mm screws. A couple 12 mm wrenches, Some duct tape and soft side cooler and we're good to go.

On trips, I carry:
1.) Mini air compressor
2.) Tire plug kit
3.) Folding allen wrenches
4.) Folding torx wrenches
5.) Flat/Philips screwdivers
6.) Bungee cords
7.) Duct/electrical tapes
8.) Zip ties
9.) 10/12/13mm wrenches + adjustable wrench

The zipper pouches on each side have 3/8 and 1/4 sockets, full sets and some of the smaller wrenches. They also have full sets of screwdriver bits, Phillips and common, torx bits, hex bits, and some other minor items. The screwdriver handles fit hex bits and the other one is a 1/4 driver. Also 1/4 and 3/8 extensions and a 1/4 ratchet in the zipper pouches. Got a separate tire repair kit with CO2 cartridges and a small first aid kit stuck nside a spare shorty helmet in the frunk. Cell phone and credit cards on my person. Bungie straps, tape-duct and electrical, wire, 550 cord, zip ties, and other stuff are either in the tool roll or in the frunk...... some spare small fasteners too. Complete PDF operator Manual and Repair manuals on my cell phone.

I carry common and SAE because I have been working on bikes of all kinds for over 50 years and I use my tools to fix other people's bikes too. Have even changed belts, thermostats, and other minor stuff on cars with my bike tool kit.

Been doing a good bit of riding in the rain. I opened the frunk and took everything out today to check for water. Not a drop in there. It was dry as a bone.

...A cell phone and an AMA Roadside Assistance card. Not much you are going to fix on these out in the wild.

Maybe not, but my tool kit on my ST (and other bikes) has been useful to other bikes along the way.

I have a backpack I carry to work every day - they call it my "bag of holding" for D&D fans. I've got lots of tools, odds & ends, etc. Seems everyone knows to come check with me to see if I have what they need at the moment.

Doesn't necessarily have to be out on the side of the road. There are times on a trip you might get it jumped off and started, then you make it to some place that sells batteries. You might could borrow tools from the place to change the battery. You might not could. Some part might come loose and just needs the right size tool to tighten it back up. There can be a lot of reasons you might need tools. I rode an old Sportster for decades. Simple to repair just about any place. The Spyder is not so simple, but small things will still go wrong at an inconvenient time.

Besides the factory tool kit I carry a tire plug kit and compressor, T handle torx in 25,27,30. A VOM and a multitool, and a 3/8 ratchet drive & socket set (8mm to 19mm) and Roadside service and a cc and a cell phone
