• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

What will be the future spyder maintenance, and repair costs?

Hi Scotty!

Im curious where you got the Oct. 07 intro date for the :spyder2:. I called BRP a few months back for some technical info and was told they did`nt give tech info, they said to talk to my dealer. I said well can you tell me when the :spyder2: was made available to the public? The lady said she did`nt know but she would find out and put me on hold for about 5 min. When she came back she said the intro date was Feb. 07. :dontknow: Would like to know if anyone else has a date and where they got it? Just curious!

P. S. I love reading some of these posts at 2 AM and laughing out loud. My cat looks at me like Im nuts.

By for now-RIDE LONG AND PROSPER!!!! :ohyea:

They may have had some demos available for test rides in February of 2007 but the first customer owned Spyders weren't out until October or November of 2007. People were putting down $1000 deposits in early 2007 to have "the privilege" of owning one of the first Spyders, which were delivered in the late fall of 2007. Jay Leno, who received Spyder #001, didn't get his until September / October of 2007. http://www.jaylenosgarage.com/cars/Can-Am_shell.shtml

Exactly! The Official Launch of the Spyder (for which I actually have the special jacket) was held in California (San Diego?) in February '07. Jay Leno did introduce the Spyder there. He did not receive PE #0001 until that Fall.

Looks like you posed another question not on "The List", Nater:lecturef_smilie::roflblack:
Not singling anyone out, but I guess some of these folks are much more concerned with 'which windshield looks best' or 'how does my muffler sound?', than the real nuts and bolts of the Spyder. And that's ok, too. But they really shouldn't be telling you what you can ask or what you might be capable of working on......Or maybe, if they knew how long parts were designed to last, there wouldn't be much to moan about when things begin to fail:dontknow:.....Who knows.....

I however, do agree with you. Nothing lasts forever(except diamonds maybe), and it would be nice to know what the service limits for some parts should be. Shocks, swingarm bearings, suspension bushings, steering parts, etc. won't last indefinately. It'd be good to know what to expect....I doubt BRP is going to tell us how many miles the Spyder was designed and engineered to last, so we'll have to get an idea of that through the forum......HD doesnt really tell us the inside info either, but thanks to message boards there is a general understanding of how long many individual parts will last......

I wish my Dr. could also tell me how long my parts are going to last - but it ain't gonna happen -:roflblack:

So has anyone heard what the future maintenance, and repair cost are going to be?

I curious if the engineers, and let anyone know their time study data. I no that in today market everything in time engineered. So what is the time on the spyder?

Example Harley knows that sportster cam bearing wear out at 30,000 mile + or -. To replace them you risk destroying the case which is $$. Most shops will never attempt this job for that reason. People in the know get rid of their sporty well before that .

So what does Spyder know

I am lucky not to have to worry because HDX is a gearhead and knows how to fix things but with our :spyder:who knows. I think we've been lucky that we haven't had any major problems but sometimes reading what other folks have gone through on this forum make me a little worried about what could go wrong with ours.

BRP is a strange bird. I have never seen a company that offers accessories before they come out and then can't give you a ship date. :dontknow: Even the dealers get left in the dark with that stuff.
