What replacement Tires for a 2019 RT?

I have heard too much on tires. I am so full of info I could burst. I live in 3 season riding area, East mountains of Albuquerque, NM and commute to work as many days a week as I can on my RT. Just crossed the 6,000 mile mark and noticed on my inspection that I have reached the tire wear indicators. July is rainy season and I live in the mountains. Taking suggestions on an all weather tie. I am leaning toward the Khumo Ecsta AST. Any other recommendations? Can Can-am void my warranty if I use and auto tire? anyone know? I really don't want to get flamed here, just some honest experience bases answers

Better Tires

Better tires help you with your Spyder.
So sorry that OEMs tires have a pretty low rating.

So If you want to get 'quality auto tires' on your Spyder that will be a better thing.

NO, BRP/ CAN-AM can not void your Warranty for a 'quality auto tire'.
The tires will not be covered, but then I think these OEMs tires are not very good.

Kuhmo EST are ok until they wear down from my experience. Once they start slipping it time to replace them too.

Now on the Kanine tire. Don't have enough road time on them yet for a good comment.

Stay away from Vee Rubber too. I think they are the worst tire for a Spyder. They wear like ****

Any name brand All Season tire in a suitable size (doesn't hafta be exactly the same size tho! :lecturef_smilie will work well/better than the OEM tires in most if not all respects, so just go ahead & choose, the available range is a lot larger than you might think! hyea:

Those Kumho's you mentioned aren't too bad if you watch their pressures & adjust them down as the tread compound gets harder when they wear down a bit; but there's also Bridgestone, Federal, General, Cooper, BFG, Continental, Michelin, Toyo, Yokohama, Dunlop, Hankook, and the list goes on & on - simply look for a tire to suit your ryding needs, find one you can get in a size that suits, and go ahead! I'm currently running a Michelin on the rear, and so far I'm very impressed! :yes:

Don't over-think it, just find a tire you like that you can get in a usable size & go for it! :thumbup:

I put Federal's on the front and the General on the rear. Very happen with the improved handling of the Federals on the front!

The best are made by Vredestein ..... either the Q-5 or it's newest version the Quatrac they have sizes to fit F or R and they work best at 15-17 psi front and 18-19 rear ..... as Peter said there are quite a few brands that will fit and work .... Mike :thumbup:

Well I just ordered a Vredestein Quatrac 205/60 - 15 from Tire Rack. I don't need a rear tire yet, I have 6300 miles on the OEM Kenda and it still looks pretty good. The Vredestein Quatrac is currently back ordered so I went ahead and ordered it to insure I'll (hopefully) have it when I actually need it. Really looking forward to trying it out. Little bit concerned about finding someone to mount and balance when I do go to get it installed, will cross that bridge when I get to it I guess.

Also anxious to get new front tires but will hold off until the Kendas are worn more.

If you get more than another 2000 to 4000 mi. on the rear be happy ... that's about average .... The Kenda front should last about 20 to 25,000 mi .....IF they are properly aligned... Although IMHO all Kenda's are Crap, the front don't Balloon anywhere near as much as the WIDE rear tire ..... Mike :thumbup:

~~~ill watch my rear tire & see if it lasts as long as you quote here Mike (for those not keeping score, Jake just picked up a new RT in August). I’m sure you’re right about the longevity. As odd as it may sound to some, I’m looking forward to R&Ring the rear tire using the hand tools I’ve been using for all of my tire work. The tools are nothing special, just some hand levers and a bead breaker. The Marc Parnes balancing kit ive been using the last 7 years is supposed to work with Spyder kit, according to email ive done w/Marc Parnes, but I’ll need to add the appropriate adapters
