• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

What price should I be asking for a 2014 RT Limited Seat & Backrest?

I have a seat & backrest, and the passenger backrest off my 2014 RT, in a box. Perfect condition. Replaced with an Ultimate seat back in 2018 or 2019. I need to sell, but not sure what I can get out it. There is a cycle shop in Florida that has one for sale that looks like it came out of a junk yard, and they are asking $649, and it doesn’t even have a backrest.

Sad to say, that while your seat may be in pristine condition and shipping charges are what they are, they make your seat nearly worthless. I ended up with two sets of Super Chocks (don't ask how that happened), but to ship them to a buyer cost as much as the chocks cost new. So, don't be surprised by the price of shipping. Hope you can sell locally.

It's true, seats in particular are quite hard to sell because of the freight costs to get them anywhere (you would be gob-smacked at what it costs to get one to or from Oz, so it takes a very kind vendor to get any sort of a deal over here!) Still, you could always try a 'Best Offer - you pay the freight' Ad, maybe here in the 'For Sale by Owner' sub-forum, &/or possibly anywhere else. But if you do post an Ad here, please read and follow the directions in the 'READ FIRST!...' Sticky at the top of that section. ;)

FWIW, when I bought my Spyder in 2014, I purchased the Comfort Seat because of the extra leg room it afforded. A good friend had a '15/'16 RT limited, don't remember which, that he had purchased an Ultimate seat for but did not like and wanted to try a Russell Day Long. He sold the Ultimate and I gave him the stock seat from my bike so he could send the pan to Russell. Unfortunately, for some physiological reason the Day Long didn't work either (numbness in lower legs) he got out of the Spyder game.

Which drivers backrest is it? OEM or aftermarket? Picture of the back rest?

For what it is worth, I damage my OEM seat and found one 350 miles away. Had the seller remove the seat from the pan and just send me the cover. I have a air staple gun with SS staples, so I just installed the new to me cover on my pan and foam.

Do be aware that the original post requesting advice on pricing in this thread (which is not actually an Ad ;)) was put up about a month ago now, and there's not been a heap of discussion here since then; plus, it looks like @StevandBelinda haven't been around since about 10 days after putting up the original post anyway; so they've probably been distracted by other things &/or they've advertised & maybe even sold elsewhere?!

Just Sayin' :sneaky:

It is the 2014 OEM seat and backrest.

Nope, haven't sold yet. Called an outfit here in Michigan that sells Spyder parts from dismantled bikes and asked their opinion on a reasonable price to ask for seat and backrest, or parting out separately. Told me for seat and backrest combo, at least $650, if sold separately, no less than $500 for the seat, and no less than $200 for backrest. Just forgot to check back here after posting question about asking prices.

It's the cost of shipping, that's the hard part of selling a seat. I had one to sell, the shipping was more than what I was asking for the seat! After a year, but I found some one local that wanted it!
