Seriously, there are
NUMEROUS threads & posts explaining the why's and where-fore's about the fact that your Spyder rims
ARE 'J' type car rims, and are not just 'akin' to car rims at all - and that they
ARE NOT motorcycle rims in any respect! Neither are the OEM Spec Kendas or any of their clones anything other than lightweight
CAR tires!! Under International Agreements and Standards that the US, Canada, the UK, and Australia are all signatory to,
they ARE NOT motorcycle tires in any respect! Many of those same threads & posts also mention that just about
any 'reasonable car tire' made by a reputable manufacturer that fits under your Spyder & is then run at an appropriate (lower) pressure for the (lighter) load of a Spyder vs that of most cars will most likely work significantly better than the OEM Kendas in all respects! There are even quite a few threads & posts that mention and discuss the very tires linked in the first post of this thread, and quite a few posts from people who
DO use &/or have used those very tires, as well as a few from a variety of owners talking about how they felt they performed, and even some mentioning how to avoid the loss of traction some experienced as they aged, and instead of just getting longer tire life, but also get better traction from them as the compound wears down and gets harder!!
So instead of thrashing this subject
yet again in yet another thread I strongly suggest that anyone interested in the questions raised in the first post here should do some searching and reading of the existing tire threads on the Forum. :lecturef_smilie:
For those specific tires linked, just enter '
Kumho Solus' or '
Kumho Ecsta' in the
Search field, and in this instance, while you could tick the '
Search Titles Only' box in the drop-down list and get quite a few threads to read on them &/or your chosen search criteria, it might also help if you try ticking the other box instead, and '
Show Results as Posts'; but I believe the resulting list of posts you might want to read will be quite a bit longer if you do that! Still, if you want to know, it's up to you to make
some effort and at least have a thorough cursory glance, if not a proper look for & at what has already been posted here!
