• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Help me decide on Directional vs Regular Tread Tires?

Having run many miles on both the Quatrac and Quatrac 5 on the back and Quatrac 5's on the front I can say without a doubt they work well in the rain. And we get plenty of opportunities to try them out here in Mississippi.

Cant agree with that advice at all. All the tyres are " car tyres" aren't they ?????????????.

In my opinion a balanced wheel assembly preforms best. Compared to one that has a tyre just biffed on. Vibration is at a minimum. Also if there is a problem with a rim not straight or true its picked up on the balance. Smoother spinning results in more consistent contact path available contact with the tyre and road surface.

Like many I too am a qualified vehicle crash investigator.

Gotta be preferable for a balanced wheel assembly I reckon. Front / rear dosnt matter.

Please enlighten me as why not to bother.

I’ll let Mike answer formally, but just as an aside, the Kenda “Special Motorcycle Use Only” tyre is quite poorly made and usually requires a fair amount of balancing, Iso. On the other hand, the quality aftermarket car tyres that we put on Spyders not so much. I believe Mike is saying that “yes, get your rear tyre balanced if possible, but don’t fret if your tyre shop can’t do it, as it will be very close as long long as they have oriented the dot and valve stem correctly”.

I had zero issues with the two rear aftermarkets I have used, which my tyre shop could not balance at the time…….and they can now, as they invested in the cones etc that allow them to fit the front and rear Spyder wheels with no damage. So I will indeed be having future front and rear assemblies balanced at the shop, just for piece of mind.

:agree: For all intents & purposes, OEM Kenda's are car/auto tires..... However, can you name what car/auto they can be used on ????? .... "ENLIGHTEN Me" - I'll try; the physical design and construction of the Spyder's rear suspension (not Ryker) is such that it would take a HUGE amount of "out of balance" to be felt by you or anyone else. ...... If you rode 10 identical Spyders and only one had the Rear wheel balanced I'd bet a lot of $ that you couldn't pick it out ...... Mike :thumbup:
