Hi,

I was going to buy a left over 2013 rt limited until I heard about the heat issues. Now I am looking at the 2014 I don't need the limited but want a rt which model???? Help!

wtb

i would go with the 14 and if you don't like all the chrome on the ltd go with the model just under it and dress it up like the ltd. that is what i did when i bought my 13 rt/s.

2014 RTS most of the bells and whistles, but no matter which one you buy you will get plenty of smiles per mile.

If you like shiny chrome, go with the Limited.

I'm not a chrome fan so the RTS is the model for me. It also has a two toned seat that looks really great. It doesn't have the extra chrome and does not come with the GPS or luggage for the front trunk.

Depends..!

mostly on you..if it's a funds thing you can go with the one that cost less and dress it up when you can. If not an issue it becomes visual and a like for bells and whistles. You can get great prices on the 2013's and you have to remember not all of them had issues. But if you are in doubt go for the 2014 preliminary reviews are good....

I like to fiddle and am cheap. The plain vanilla RT has everything you need minus the chrome and fog lights. I do not care for black front rims either on the RTS. Since they did away with the frunk switch it also makes the RT the best value. Eventually I will add the fog lights but already added a few farkles. It is just too much to ad $5-8 grand to get the RTS or LTD for me. I like to shop ebay for add ons and am betting I can get it to LTD status for a lot less than buying one or the parts from BRP they have a big mark up IMHO. I do not need GPS my smart phone and BT helmet provide me with directions so to me the RT is the best value. The gauges and heated passenger holds on the RTS and LTD are about useless I like the digital display much more on the RT.As for the 2014 unfortunately Black and white RT's do not appeal to me If they did a Cognac RT I would have ordered one.

The RT A/C gives you the important upgrades, like radio & MP3 connection. The RTS gives you the rear Air shock. I wouldn't consider anything less than an A/C, if you ever intend to sell it.

2013,14 RT's come standard with radio and MP3 cables. I have no use for the auto air shock. Too many reports of leaks and pumps going bad just something else to wear out. Manual inflation works just fine pumped up before a ride. I am working on a simple upgrade to increase airflow under the Tupperware and will post when it is ready.

My wife and I ride as a couple. All the bells and whistles in the world won't make any motorcycle more reliable and reliability is number one for us. Our 2010 RT BareBone has never let us down and with over 43,000 miles, it runs like a sewing machine. Were we in the market, we would buy the 2014 RT Barebone, which does have a radio which would only go to waste for us. The only thing we changed on the RT was the seat for a Russell Day Long, and the front shocks for some RaceTecks. Ride with the wind in your face and the the memories in your mind.

If you like Chrome: The Limited
Black trimwork? The RTS
want to save some bucks: pop for the base model.
The differences between the LImited and the "S" are largely cosmetic; you DO get the GPS system, and some frunk luggage also though...
Now...
The BASE bike:
lacks the ACS
lacks foglights
lacks accent lights
lacks a frunk light and liner
and has brushed aluminum trimwork and wheels...

It's your choice; Happy Shopping! :D

The RTS has brushed trim too  Black wheels are the stopper for me on a RTS. Even silver painted would be OK and I ain't paying to change rims on a $27k bike.

What model to buy...

Hi,

If money's not an issue, I'd go with a 2014 RT Limited... that's because I like bells and whistles. I have a 2013 RT Limited and I'm one of the lucky ones. I don't have a heat problem. I bought mine last April and have 9000 miles on it.

No matter which way you go, be prepared to spend lots of money on the extras (farkles)!!!

Good luck.

The suggestions for purchasing a 2014 are right on. You do have the choice of the more plain RT, the RT-S and the RT Limited now. The A&C version is gone.

You gets what you pay for as far as options go. If you like to do it yourself farkle--the basic RT is the way to go. You will end up with the :spyder2: done your way.

The RT-S has most of the comfort options a farkler would add. The RT-LTD has everything including chrome wheels and additional electronics.

I am going with the RT-S this next go around. I don't want to invest the extra $2K for chrome parts and electronics that I am not going to use. The only additional options may be some lights and possibly the comfort seat and backrest.

In previous lives, I started with the Premier Edition RT-S (2010). That was offered with "everything" and I went for it. My 2011 is a RT A & C and other than adding comfort seat, additional lights, and floorboards, it is stock. We are very happy with the 2011 and I have no desire for further farkles there.

Hard decisions, but very nice to have plenty of choices so we can do our own thing.

Tina:

I would go with a 2014 RTS-SE6 if you can swing it financially. Good luck to which ever model you choose.
