• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

WHAT MAKES A WORD A 'BAD' WORD?????

explaination

Store High In Transit. i was told this refers to the British, shipping containers of manure on ships, back in the 1700 's, to what is now America. it seems that if the containers were not kept cool, they would explode. that's where the word s :cus: t came from. ( don't want to get yelled at ).nojoke

Words becomes bad only the way how people use them adding hand movement will amplify to worst. Suffix to a word will have same effect. Please refrain from audible quality coz kids are around.

Personally I think the main problem is the English language and its double or triple meanings.

100% correct , The english language is filled with Homo's........

Homographs are words that are spelled the same but have different meanings. Homophones are words that sound the same when you pronounce them, but have different meanings.

I dont think there are any bad words

adults use certain words to expression anger, frustration, etc.

sure, some of the words are used too much by too many people, but they are just words

having grown up in New York, you learned them early and used them often

some people need to lighten up

Everyone has their own opinion of what's right and wrong, what's good and bad. I happen to agree with you; except the part about NY, of course.

You're missing the point. I asked "what" makes a bad word bad. It's not only adults that use certain words either as mentioned in other responses. I grew up in New Jersey and I don't think I need to lighten up.

9th grade shop class day 1 while going over the rules. Mr Heyen says "Now guys I understand when a wrench slips and you bang your knuckles, a cus word might pop out. I am ok with that, just don't make it a habit. There is no excuse for using one word in this class, if you do your out for the rest of the day. The word starts with an F and ends with a UCK and it isn't fire truck."
That was one of those little things you never forget.

Thank goodness for shop teachers. One of ours happened to be our football coach too. It was a good thing for sure!

Perhaps a good rule of thumb to follow about your use of some of the more "colorful" phrases when out in Public:
If you can notice that folks are getting uncomfortable with how you're conveying the message; change the delivery of it!

My wood shop teacher didn't curse, he just threw something at you to get your attention. In the same vain, my TI in boot canp didn't curse either. He was 6'6" and probably was at least 230lbs. In that respect he didn't have to curse. He would just fold his arms across his chest and walk toward you. You had to maintain two paces spacing from him. He would maneuver you into a corner or against the wall and when you couldn't go any further he would put the brim of his Smokey Bear hat against your forhead and, in a calm voice heard all over the base, would make his point. Oh, and you had to maintain eye contact too.

Thanks, Bob. This is what I was trying to say concerning 'respect' for others.

its all in the listening...

for people who grew up in the northeast, language was open

for people who grew up in the midwest, it wasnt

so depending on where you come from, your listening to certain words is going to be different

I do my best to be 'respectful' around people and not sound like a drunken sailor with Tourettes syndrom, but.....

there are certainly times and instances where i do :doorag:

Good point; tallor your speech to the audience...
Although growing up in the Northeast; I can asure you that language was FAR from open around my Grandma Denman. :opps:
It got to a point where I'd be looking to see where she was... when I was 127 miles away at college! :roflblack:

My Father was born and grew up in Brooklyn, He past 20 years ago at 88 years old, Never did i ever hear him
say one curse word, And the same for my Mother. Growing up i would NEVER use a curse word in front of them' Not out of fear but out of respect..
When i Joined Johnson's, Domino's party:mad: I couldn't understand why the DI's use cruising as a second language. Then i figured it out, When you feel you are inferior you tend to curse a lot to build yourself up in your own mind.

Randy you are so smart

You had me worried when I saw the word "Homo" but reading on a little further you made it as clear as when "I see the sea!" Speaking of the sea don't confuse a wave on the sea with the wave of a fellow Spyderlover!!!!! :roflblack: :roflblack: Did I get it right?? You are a great teacher as well as a great video producer!!:thumbup:
