The smiling trouble free owners are the ones we never hear about. :thumbup: What is your maintenance routine? What do you do to keep your Spyder ready to ride at a moment's notice? :chat:

Seriously: oil changes at 4,000 miles, and check it every Month along the way
Tire pressures weekly
I'm actually beyond the dreaded, :lecturef_smilie: "check the valves" service... It's running great with no funky sounds from under the Tupperware, so I've decided to let them go for about another 10,000 miles... ray:

I do my maintenance during the "after riding" time. Filling up the tank included, cleaning off the bugs etc....

I'm by far no expert; but, it's what you don't hear as the clearance becomes less with wear. At least that's what the owner of my small dealership explained. He started out as a mechanic.

Basics..!!

Check oil after long rydes as well as coolant level. Check brake fluid levels once a month. Check tire pressure and condition before rydes. Check all brake and driving lights before rydes. Fill up before getting home. Check air filter and air box once a month while I'm there check and clean throttle body. And keep her clean always. :thumbup:

Nothing is loose, and the bike still starts up as easily as ever... hard starting can be an indicator...

the lack of any apparent issues; coupled with the fact that I don't beat the bike up when I'm running it... I should still be good to go! :thumbup:

Change the oil every 5,000 miles. Do whatever other measurements and lubes that need to be done at those intervals. Check the tire pressure once or twice a year. Change the rear tire every 15,000 miles. Change the battery and relays and rear light bulbs every 3 years. Only have a dealer work on it when absolutely necessary. Don't do any electrical mods. Don't do any engine performance mods. Okay you can do a few but expect and anticipate an offsetting problem to crop up.

Bob, I know there are people that don't like them and I'm fine with that free choice and all that.......But in 55 yrs. of wrenching just about everything I have NEVER had a bolt loosen with a STAR washer on it..............and that's all I'm going to say....period......:thumbup:......Mike

Ride like the wind every day. Dealer performs routine maintenance (service contract). Ride some more. 29,750 mi with no problems. Some mods with the help of Doc_Riverside (well, if you know Doc, I helped him ...). Check oil, air, etc when I slow down hyea:

Check oil before and after every long ride.
Check tire pressure before every log ride.
Change oil every 4000 miles using Amsoil
Complete all required service that I can do myself. Use an excel worksheet to record all service. (PM me with your email address if you would like a copy. This is laid out just like the O&M Manual)
No engine mods!
