• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

What is the farthest miles you have gone in one day ?

I drove 650 miles in 12.5 hours . ( I want to do an iron butt soon) I know there are riders who do many more miles in a day. So what is you max?

750 one day, 680 next day. From Des Moines, Ia to NJ. Very boring when riding alone so I just kept going till sunset.

Ironbutt 1000 isn't that difficult Averaging 50 mph for 20 hours leaves 4 hours slack. If you do slab most of the way, you'll gain more slack.
I have a route from NJ to Va by slab (i80-i81) that starts at midnight, get to Va ~8am, runs a few hours in the mountains, then back to NJ via slab.

I have gone 75 miles in one day. My lower back starts to give me some aches so I haven't taken any long trips yet. I only have 1900 miles on my S2S. Whether or not the driver back support will help, I will find out soon if I order one. Besides price, is there a big difference between the BRP and the Utopia as far as the seat itself and the mounting bracket ?

I have a backrest for my '20 RT. It's great when cruising on smooth roads and makes you part of the machine. But when the roads get wavy or rough, all the gyrations the RT gets goes right to your body. I use it on the slab but stow it when the ride becomes more 'active' so I can let the RT do it's thing while I stay 'settled' in the seat.

Rode from Kansas city MO to Denver Colorado in 2 days. Since it was about 100 F both days, I felt that ride going. Much better on the way back home. We stopped more often.

827 miles from Durango Colorado to Lincoln Nebraska in a little more than 11 hours. We won’t talk about speed. BTW, this was on my Soft Tail.

Lots of Total miles, but the daily max has been around 400. The old grey mare, she ain't what she used to be.

On the Spyder I have done 425 followed by a 450 followed by a 850. Most on a 2 wheeler is 890. Each one is within 14 hours of riding time per day.

1,473 miles from Albuquerque, NM to Greeneville, TN. Took us 27 hours straight, (Only stopping for fuel and something to eat & run). Now technically, 27 hours is not 'In 1 Day'. But it was a single run so it counts in my book.

This after our 770 mile run from San Diego, CA to Albuquerque the day before. Basically, 2,243 miles in 2 days. Don't try this at home!

High 90's and some triple digit weather most of the way.

Not planning to do this again. We were riding zombies. Not recommended!

Longest I've ever done on a motorcycle is 740, but that was almost 30 years ago.
On our Spyders, my wife and I have done 690–695 mile days on three different occasions, doing the Smackdab Summer Solstice Run.

I then went to Long Is. on Wed. and it hit 115 F on the Verrazano Narrows bridge :gaah: in bumper to bumper traffic annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd my 14 RT didn't over-heat :clap:......Love my Spyders ..... Most recent iron butt I did 3,339km (2,075 miles) in 46hrs 9mins so that averages out at 1,037.5 miles a day over two days.

I tend to do the two or more day events as I like the challenge, but I did do a writeup of a single day event were I did 1707km (1061 miles) in 19hrs 45 minutes if you're interested:

This is normally on single lane, twisty and mountainous roads. Often even some gravel in the mix, we don't have many highways here:-)

Just remembered about another writeup of a two day event here:

In keeping with advice given to myself and my best friend just before we started out on our first motorcycle "tour" in August of 1971, 432 in a single day. That was the day we took possession of our 2014 RT in October of 2017 and I drove it home from Denton to Fritch, Tx. The longest multi-day mileage was 1384 on a 7-day ride to Bentonville and back with a good friend of mine when I let him ride my BMW R1100RT for most of the trip but we occasionally swapped rides so I could hit the twisties pre hard in AR and MO on the beemer. We still kept speeds reasonable though to make it safer for stopping to shoot lots of pictures.

That advice; "you will SEE more driving 55 than you will at 70mph"

600 mile day trip on my 2014 RT to the Outer Banks and back. About 1/2 slab, and 1/2 back roads.
Did 570 miles on my BMW K1600B this past memorial day on a day trip to the mountains. Very exciting, and easier on me than the spyder. Don't think I could stand to do an Iron Butt on either.

Saddlesore 1000 (1035 miles) in about 17 1/2 hours, followed the next morning with Bun Burner 1500 (473 miles) by 30 hours elapsed time. Then went for a little ride the next day with our Spyder group for another 500+ miles. Almost 2050 miles in a 62 clock-hour period, include two sleeps and fun with friends!
