• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

What is the best Bluetooth setup for a full face helmet?

Sena SMH10...My son uses his Droid (when he steals my bike) with my set-up but I use my I-phone. I am able to talk with wife, listen to music, voice gps and answer the phone....if I want to. I have an on board power supply to my cell to keep it charged for long rides and a cradle(waterproof). I find it much easier than having separate units. Any questions you may PM me.

I think it will be hard to get us to say which is 'best' largely because we each have favorites. I'll start with mine.

I have a convertible helmet that I wear mostly in full down, full face mode. I have SENA SMH10 units. I love them. I also did a lot of work to add Bluetooth to our RT but have recently changed the setup since technology has moved along.

My SMH10 is paired with my iPhone. On the iPhone I run TomTom GPS, Pandora, XM, TuneIn Radio, iHeart Radio, and of course I can take calls. A side effect is that I can also hear when email, FB notifications and TXT messages come in. As well, when my wife rydes along, to chat, we touch one button and the intercom overrides all other audio.

The latest SMH10 allows firmware upgrades to keep up with new features, etc. Great unit.

Hey Phil, On longer trips, not just driving to work, I go into the I-Phone and select "none" for sounds that notify me of emails and texts so I don't hear them through my cell while riding. I leave my ringtone on for phone. I don't know if you know you could do this.

Great idea! I had not thought of that, it makes perfect sense.

What waterproof cradle do you use for your Droid?

new players

I would recommend looking at webbikeworld.com. There are some players in the Bluetooth game such as Midland BT and Interphone F5 that warrant consideration.

Tried various units and the Sena SMH10 has been the best in my opinion. EASY to use. Links up.... tons of options for earbuds, speakers, etc......

Did I mention they link up easy and just WORK???
Cardo units often had problems linking.. maybe better now.. but really got tired of messing with them.

Buybits through Amazon but I bought the one for the I-phone. I believe the kit complete was 50$. I think they make one for the Droid as well.

Figures theres always a new one :(. I bet its awesome if its an improvment on the G4.

Wish I could share the enthusiasm on the G9 set. I have them, and my experience is that the user website leaves a lot to be desired for any functionality or website flow (or even being user friendly), they connect out of the box, as soon as you pair iPhones they no longer talk to each other as an intercom set even when doing the bump pairing again and again, and calling their customer service for help is a test in patients waiting for a human to answer the phone. The book pales in its utility too IMO.

I have had the Cardo Q2 for a few years and was now looking for a possible replacement. The G9 is out, not only due to pricing (2 pack), but the problems you have mentioned. I'll being going the Sena route.

Sena SMH5 seems to be the most bang for the buck...I have one and absolutely love it! Lots of awesome reviews on it as well.

Check jcmotors for the best price.

We use the Scala G4 and are very happy. Paired the phones directly to the G4's instead of the the way the mfg recommended (through the Garmin GPS first) Seems to work better. If you get a G4, I am told Cardo will give you a free upgrade to the G9, but we have not yet requested it.

We have the Cardo G4 and it is wonderful. Spent almost money on "cheap" units before going with the G4. Live and learn.
