• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

What is considered a Real Motorcycle?

In all my time on here, I've never heard that question before, before, before, before, before........

Who Cares what others think about your brand of ride. Just tell them their Approval is not Required.

Was thinking the other day, when younger I'd walk into a room and wonder if the people there would like me, Now I walk in and wonder if I will like anyone there.

I believe the expression

beauty is in the eye of the beholder applies here. Or perhaps in the eye of the owner. How many real motorcyclists really care what somebody else thinks about their ride?

funny thread..;) I always rode BMW's...long ago... a friend of mine's wife asked me why I didn't ride in the parade that occurred downtown... Her husband, my friend , an old hot rodder, was talking to another Harley rider at the time..he said... it's because scottie doesn't ride a real motorcycle....I said you are right... I ride 2 wheel engineering...she laughed.. friend's mouth dropped... other Harley rider glared... life is good

I was on another forum where a topic came up Harley versus Can Am Spyder. At one point a comment was made. "A real motorcycle looks like a Harley " . :roflblack:

What are your thoughts on this topic without getting to much off the topic..

What's with some people.

Watch collectors are just as bad.
If you can't wind it up, it's not a watch! REALLY? :banghead:

NHTSA defines it as.....

"Motorcycle means a motor vehicle with motive power having a seat or saddle for the use of the rider and designed to travel on not more than three wheels in contact with the ground. Motor-driven cycle means a motorcycle with a motor that produces 5-brake horsepower or less."

Federal Highway Administration defines it ........

Motorcycles:

  1. Two or three wheels in contact with the ground (excluding trailers suitable for motorcycle hauling).
  2. A seat or saddle for driver and passengers.
  3. Wheel rim diameters 10 inches or more.
  4. Do not include an enclosure for the driver or passengers.

I had a 85 V-Max and I couldn't have described it better!

My V-Max
I really like my :spyder2: and the Valkyrie is cool , but when the V-boost opens all 4 carbs it feels like the
hand of God pushing the Max foward and me making sure I'm pointed in the right direction and hanging on!!

And please don,t tell me to grow up--I'm 68 yrs young, still ski the double diamond slopes, and handle a 150 lb Great Dane named::::::

PS: Mornin' youall

Motor: powered by non-human power
Cycle: two wheels in line with each other

. end of discussion.

You can choose to split hairs: dirt bike, sportbike, trike, cruiser, reverse trike, adv bike, standard, cafe, bobber, etc etc.

Well, technically a BIcycle has two wheels. The word motorcycle doesn't specify how many wheels it has ;)

I call mine a roadster and it give me smiles per mile on the open road. That usually gets a giggle or smile and I leave it at that. Life is too short to get upset over someelse' opinion of what I ride nor do I really care. It's my ride.

In this world, the majority of MOTORCYCLES have two wheels. Three wheelers and even "quads" are the minority. And while all may qualify for the term "motorcycle", what comes to mind for (IMHO) most people would be two wheels.

You may ask yourself...."How large does a watch have to be before it becomes a clock"? You'd probably open up the same can of worms.
