• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

What Hobbies do you have other than the Spyder?

I did a search for this thinking Spyder Ryders would surely have other hobbies. My search turned up nothing. My apologies if this has been done.

I'm just curious what other hobbies Spyder owners engage in.

I'll list mine first:

photography
motorcycles
golf
road cycling
fishing
hunting & target shooting

Good topic.

Music, music, music. I currently play mostly guitar. I like country/gospel, country, and bluegrass.

I used to paint a lot (Bob Ross style), but have not touched that gear in a few years now.

Motorcycles are now out. I like to read about them, but my leg will no longer support the two wheel weight.

Used to fish and camp a lot. After my stint in AK, and catching a few 50# Salmon, a big walleye, bass, or northern just don't do it any more. And I live less than 50 miles from some of the best fishing in AR now. Don't want to dish out the big money for a boat, etc. etc. etc.

I never got into hunting.

I should have mentioned, my list is sort of in order of frequency, with the top three almost daily. Since I retired 4 years ago, I have taken a part time job on a golf course that provides me with free membership, carts, and range balls. The photography is always present, what with the high quality of cell phone cameras these days. We do still take serious pictures with some pretty good DSLRs for kid's events, weddings, parties, and photos that we sell through my wife's crafting business - those are mostly sunrises and sunsets here in the Tx Panhandle. I pretty much ride a motorcycle for all of that, with an occasional jaunt on her Spyder to keep the battery charged and fluids lubricating things that need it.

My other hobby's not in the correct order,

Waterski ing, Boating, diving, drivin the spyder, reading, Long walks with the dog, and the best hobby ever, a good night's sleep... and dreams, and almost I forgot driving my Dodge demon srt........
Love the good life, I own a well running Autoglasfitting service, work like 50/60 Hours a week, have to have to wind off somtimes:roflblack:

In the " off-season " I have returned to Down-hill skiing. ..... for me it's fun and very good exercise .... also because of my age a pass for $ 200.00 is a Bargain. This season I have 49 ski days.....Mike

Music; I still toodle on my clarinet and saxophones occasionally; Vintage Country Music; Electric Bicycle rides in my local neighborhoods; HO gauge electric train board in one of my garages; my hot-rod club activities; gardening; hanging out with my "old fart friends" at the local coffee shop. cropped trophies.jpg

Black powder marksmanship. I shoot a .58 caliber muzzle loader with the North-South Skirmish Association. We typically shoot at 4" targets at 50 and 100 yards, totally off-hand. It's amazing how accurate these old guns are.

Hobbies are the Spyder, long distance riding (not iron butt), photography, HO model trains, Harmonica (not very good), church, grandkids, hunting/shooting (don't hunt any more, not unless I go with my son), off roading/jeeping, and of course... old movies.

Rescuing and rehabbing old motorcycles - mainly GL1000 GoldWings, church (not really a hobby but part of who I am), riding motorcycles, caring for an aging grand-dog, helping the wife with her garden (someone has to eat what she grows), watching UK basketball (very disappointing hobby this past season). Slowly fixing-up the house for "aging in place". Spyder (and learning about it) is being worked in. Already sold one GL1000 and have a GL1800 for sale to make room in the garage.

It's not a question of Hobbies... we are both retired now, so we make the Italian way, called "dolce-vita" (sweet live) - visiting the most beautiful places in the world/good food & red wine/nice people also...

Sold our last BMW-bike ten years ago and bought our first Spyder GS (60k miles on the 3-wheelers now) - still love boating and the Nature...

My tip: take your Spyder/Ryker and hire a houseboat near Venice for a week!! That's Dolce-vita!
