• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

What footwear do you use?

Just a pair of shoes that also go to work with me... They're pretty designed heavy and designed to hold the orthotic that protects the bottom of my foot from damage...
Question: How many of us feel that even on a Spyder we should be thinking about protecting our feet from the unthinkable if something goes wrong??

You've got my vote! All I can say about the folks riding in tennis shoes or open-toed anything is, "Ouch!" Only takes one piece of road debris kicked up, one idiot on his/her cell phone, one blown tire, or a failed coolant hose to make you limp forever. Nobody that came off the old Brit bikes wore shorts or anything but boots when they rode...at least not after the first burns from the leaking hot oil healed. :D

:agree:

My left knee is getting worse as I get older, so if I'm at a stop of any length, I like to take it off the peg. My mantra's always been, no boots, no feet on the ground.

For other gear, I'm a fan of Draggin' Jeans with the added armor, and all my other pants and all my jackets are majority mesh; around D.C., riding season is just too hot for leathers all of the time. Still, one of these days I'm going to splurge and treat myself to a nice set of perforated leathers, but I'd like to be a little bit more... svelte before I spend that kind of coin on clothing.

And earplugs. Always gotta wear the earplugs!

As always, to each their own, but I'm 99% ATGATT (the only time I'm not in full gear is if I'm moving the Spyder from the street directly in front of my house to the driveway). Dress for the slide, not the ride :doorag:

Problem with footwear

Footwear was my very first problem with my new Spyder. I prefer wearing my cowboy boots and I also have Harley motorcycle boots but braking is a problem. Any boot or shoe with a heal catches on the driver peg and slows me down when trying to brake. I have a small foot - 6 - so I have to lift my foot. Can't brake with just my toe. I am now experimenting with tennis shoes with no heel but can't dance in those. Since a dance is my primary destination, the tennis shoes aren't going to work.:dontknow:

Would you be able to wear your tennis shoes on the spyder and carry your dancing shoes and change when you get there ??

Just a thought. I could be wrong.

I may move to Texas !!!

I ryde my RT to work almost every day, so no, I don't wear leathers and boots. I wear Dockers, button down shirts and leather shoes. I also wear Nikes and shorts on hot days when I go for a ryde to relax. And I have no qualms about it.

I do have a "limp forever" and a paralyzed right leg, but that happened on a two wheeler with full dirt bike riding gear, so there are no guarantees even in full gear. Safer with full gear? Certainly. But for everyday commuting and pleasure ryding, I wear what is appropriate for me and my circumstances.

If I were ryding like SethO or Doc, then yes, I would gear up, but for my style and my purposes, I do what is right for SteveMac.

Not to say that is right for everyone, I wouldn't try to put my preferences off on anyone else. But I make the choice based on what is right for me!

Chastize me if you want, I am a big boy, I can take it! :D

I wear bates that I get from the local Navy Base. They hold a good shine just like my :spyder:.

Be Safe
