• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

What do you wear on your Spyder? In HOT weather?

I ordered my Motoport Kevlar air mesh suit way back the first part of May....I will be wearing that come the end of July...if they're running on schedule....

Recently got one

How long are those evaporating cooling vests good for? And does it matter what you wear under it?

I wear a t-shirt under and a mesh jacket over. IT REALLY HELPS. I've just ordered a vented windshield also. I believe that will also make a big difference.
I had the vest out for 4 hours recently. it was still cooling an hour after that when I hung it up. Just put it a zip-lock bag when traveling in the cooler morning and bring in out in the hot ( Nevada ????) afternoon.
These are a good summer inVESTment.

Overheating causes:::

PS: Got my "cool-its" vest for $35. The ones above are $170+:yikes:

You don't get to pick the day of your accident - Mine was July 4th 1977, Wife on back was read her last rights - fortunately she survived!
Both of us spent the entire summer in the Hospital - I don't care how hot it is, we never leave without mesh armored jackets, boots and gloves
at a minimum.

When the good Lord decides to call you there is no armor will keep you alive. Live for the day with no regrets.

:agree: That the only thing to protect you from the REALLY big hit... is to just not be there when it happens. :yikes:
But if the nicks, dents, digs and scratches along the way can be reduced; why not? :dontknow:

I ride in jeans, shoes and socks, long sleeve shirt, and a helmet all year round, hot or cold, raining or sunny. In the winter, I wear a jacket. I'm not concerned about crash survival, I just protect myself from the intense heat, blazing sun, flying objects, bugs, and whatever else is sailing through the air. I will never understand how people can get on a motorcycle in shorts, with their bare legs right next to a hot exhaust and even hotter engine, plus the sun beating down on them. I could never enjoy a ride with my skin exposed like that. But, to each her/his own.:dontknow:

"Hot summer night, fell like a net..."

Yeah, I got a bad case of loving you.

Having just returned from the southwest (Death Valley and Big Bend) my wife and I had no trouble wearing Olympia mesh jackets and pants with riding boots, gloves and full face helmets. We did wear the Hyperkewl vests under the jackets and they get a big thumbs up from us. BTW - it was 116 in Death Valley. We play it safe.

However, here in PA when the temps are in the high 80s or low 90s there's the issue of an equally high humidity. The Hyperkewl vests aren't that effective in those conditions. I still wear the helmet, jacket, gloves and boots, but wear jeans for short trips (less than ten miles) on back roads at 40 mph. Longer trips at higher speeds and the riding pants come on.

Lately, though when it's just too uncomfortable to be outside, I'll sacrifice riding for comfort; either stay home, or take the car. Riding in heat and humidity is like slow dancing with an over-heated Saint Bernard. If I don't have to, I'm not going to.

So that's my story and yes, I'm sticking to it.

Take care,
Chris

:shocked:Our riding Season up here in the Northeast is already too short. I'll ride in the heat. If I get warm; I remember what last February felt like, and it makes me feel like riding! :2thumbs:
